An appeals court overturned Friday a ban on the US navy's use of sonar in upcoming training exercises off California that was aimed at protecting whales disturbed by the subsea emissions.
Reversing an August 6 decision in the longstanding battle between environmental groups and the US military over whale safety, the appeals court said the court that handled the case earlier had overstepped.
It said that court had not adequately justified its ruling against sonar use in the navy's 14 planned exercises offshore southern California during 2007-2009.
The appeals court added that although the public had an interest in protecting whales, US defense needs must also be considered.

This use of sonar has got to stop! Can you imagin the whales, to escape the sound waves, might 'evolve' to a bird like creature? Will the Navy compensate you when one of these 'BALES' perches on your rain gutter and destroy's your house? And all the extra wood it will take to build a 'BALE' house to hang in your tree.

Gosh, I just figured if it bothered the whales THAT much, they'd just go some place else to get away from it...IOW, they'd instinctually relocate...silly me.

Yes, silly you...
Seriously, Whales have more brains than Libtards. They actually leave somplace when it bothers them instead of trying to sue it, beat it, yell at it, sleep on it, sleep with it, change accents, and of course the list goes on.
I feel so sorry for those Whales, I'd hate it if some hippie Libtard group was trying to get me rights and trying to help me survive in an Ocean that doesn't even have Presidents.

HAHAHA Great video on that one doom...
They're talking about how "deadly sonar" is killing these marine animals, and they're showing pictures of dolphins with blood pouring out of them... I'd say that one was a physical injury...
They claim we can ensure our safety while still protecting these animals by not using Sonar where whales and dolphins migrate and feed...
In other words, let's just hope the enemy isn't smart enough to deploy INTO those places where we're not allowed to use Sonar.
These people are tools. Nothing but water-logged tree hugging enviro's. We need to keep the gold fish safe.. Screw the humans, let them die.... but the Goldfish! WHO SPEAKS FOR SEAFOOD!?!?!?!?!
Well, screw them... Gonna go make me a can of Dolphin UNSAFE Tuna... you know, the brand that guarantees at least 3 dolphins killed in their nets per catch! Maybe some nice Whale Steaks... mmmmmm Time to cook dinner... gonna need the BIG grill!

I now work with seismic vessels. That is a use of intense, loud sound underwater to find oil under the sea bed. When I was a military whelp, we used sonar to find submarines. That is a use of intense, loud sound underwater as well.
In both cases, I've seen marine mammals (ie. whales, porpoises, etc.) swimming in close proximity to the vessel, with the loud noise blaring, and no effect on the animals. In fact, I've had field service guys tell me (recently) of whales swimming alongside the seismic ships, turning over so they had an eye out of the water, looked over the ship, then continued swimming alongside. All the time with the sound source popping every 10-odd seconds.
I know the enviros love to draw their conclusions without facts. In this case, none of them have observed marine mammals in the wild, in close proximity to vessels that use "sonar" for various purposes. Well, I have observed the whales, porpi, and dolphies swimming along for several decades, and no effect. Then again, I'm not a liberal enviro with an axe to grind, either.
