I am thinking of getting this for a military formal and the description they give is brocade jaquard. Why can't they give us real colors?

What color would you say this is?Ugly?
They can't give you a real color for a description because it doesn't match any real color that humans would recognize the name of.

But it has sparkley buttons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think brocade is the pattern- the design; and jaquard is the fabric or material.
To me the color looks like gold. I dunno.

Yes you are right. But they list it as the color, not sure why.
It was 64 dollars and it's marked down to 24. I try to get things when they are marked down for stuff like this because I only wear them once or twice. I am not real interested in it being anything other than appropriate for the event. If I can wear it and look like it's something I should be wearing to a formal at a good price and I don't look like a hooker, that's good enough for me.

Champagne color. It has a sheen which gives off a pinkish gold hue when turned certain ways in certain lights. In others, it look like a shiny beige. That would be my guess, anyway. My sister in law had a similar color on her wedding dress (believe it or not), and we all agreed the color was champagne.

Hmm, do you think a brown skirt would go with that?

You'll have to post a pic of the whole outfit when you get it. I bet it will be beautiful! Wish I had an opportunity to go to fancy dinners and things, sigh. :smirky:

The dressing up is fun, and I love seeing my hubby in the dress blues . Every now and then though you get some guy that is the speaker that tells you about every single day he spent in the military from the time that he enlisted. :zs: Then you wish you had your bath robe there to put on.

I think it's a case of the "greener-grass-on-the-other-side" syndrome, LOL. I never get opportunities to dress up and go to fancy events.
Bubba and I have been tossing around the idea of renewing our vows next year (20th anniversary), but it probably wouldn't be a dressy affair, not like the first one. We REALLY wanted to get married in jeans, with a tux top for Bubba and a fancy top with fringe for me and cowboy boots. My Mom nixed that, so maybe we'll do it this time, complete with the BBQ reception we wanted in the first place, LOL.

When I was younger it was more fun, We are to the stage now where we are at the head table (which I hate, I always feel like people are watching me eat) and my husband wants to fade out when the meal and all the formal stuff is over. The young guys can have more fun if the boss isn't there, they loosen up and have a good time. We had our time in that group though, after doing it for over 20 years the thing I enjoy the most is traveling to the event and alone time for us.

Being alone is a premium -- hopefully you'll still get plenty of it! Bubba and I RARELY get time alone, but I guess I shouldn't complain, seeing as how now I have an 18 and 16 year old, and they're practically grown,

What color would you say this is?
Can't really tell from here, other than to say it appears somewhere between skyblue-pink and lemon-jet-black-yellow, two of my personal faves.:D
Either Black or Dark brown should set it off smashingly.
May your evening at the ball be entirely enjoyable.

I think Homes is right. Champagne is what I see.
I also think it is one of those fabrics, weaves and colors that would go with alsmot any color you put it with, except any shade of blue. I can't see blue.
I'll bet it would be georgous with a deep burgandy.

I can give you the hex codes for it, if that will help.

A really shiny brown. Where'd you find it? That would make a good hate gift for enemies on Christmas.

LOL Doc. I think they should start doing that for everything.
I haven't found a skirt I really like yet. Burgundy sounds nice though. I have a lot of jewelry that burgundy would go with. I might even be able to get a tank style dress and put that over it. Depends on what I find on sale.

Sooz...that pic reminds me of a runway fashion show I saw while channel surfing about 3 years ago...the models were wearing shrubs that rested on the shoulders, completely obscuring their faces (actually, their whole head).
I thought it was hilarious.

It's called greige (grey beige). It's a very stylish color that can be matched with lots of other colors. What kind of skirt will you be wearing? A black pencil skirt would look very chic. A red skirt would look nice, too, and would pop against the greige.
Fun!

Still haven't decided on the skirt. They have me back ordered now till October. So I won't get to see this fascinating color until then.
I have a long black skirt, but it's more "poofy" if that's a word.
