Norman Podhoretz, a gifted writer and analyst, does not cavil in these matters, and his new book is called World War IV. By Podhoretz’s calculations, World War II ended with the surrender of Berlin and Tokyo. This was followed by another and very serious war, which we termed the Cold War. That pretty well ended when the Soviet Union allowed the gates in Berlin to open and, two years later, abandoned the Soviet flag. But the end of World War III did not augur an end to global warfare. The new enemy is referred to in certain quarters as Islamofascism. And Podhoretz is the chief taxonomist of that awful combine.

So the Cold War was what this guy terms as WW III? Not sure I agree with that, but Ok...... We'll not get distracted by that...

His point is that the MuzzieNazis are the new world threat... I'm curious to read his theory on the subject... I'm certainly the first one to wish they could all be hanged publicly, but as threatening as they appear today, we may in fact look on them as a mere distraction if China decides to use their massive military they have been building with their excess cash...

I think we need to deal decisively and violently with the Islamists, but we should also be looking further to the East... I believe the big war is coming from there...

Norman Podhoretz released that book, or most of it, in installments, and I can't remember now the on-line publication where I found it, but I printed out every installment of it as it was released [about a ream of paper's worth].

It will make your blood run cold, and it will make you think deeper about Islam than you ever dreamed possible.

They need us too much as a customer.Well logic would naturally expect that, but they don't think like we do - Only God knows what twisted reasoning or motivation lives in the Chicom's mind... And they aren't building a Navy for the love of "messin around in boats"...

I think the thing that worries me the most is that we become so focused on Bin Laden & Co, to the exclusion of being vigilant toward the potential threat that could overwhelm us... I fear that influences in the Pentagon might be gearing our future military direction toward anti-insurgency when we may indeed be facing a full scale conventional threat...

No, WW III was the Cold War. WW IV is the War on Terror that we are involved with in Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other places around the world. It is a war that we must win because it threatens our very survival as a nation.
