Senate votes to kill Mexican truck demo
Bush 'Open Borders' agenda dealt serious bipartisan blow

The U.S. Senate has dealt a likely death blow to the Bush administration plans to give Mexican long-haul trucking rigs free access to United States roads and highways.
A bipartisan majority voted 74-24 tonight to pass an amendment offered by Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., (http://www.wnd.com/redir/r.asp?http://dorgan.senate.gov/) to remove funding (http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57597#) from the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Transportation appropriations bill for the Department of Transportation Mexican trucking demonstration project.

Now if they can pass a Bill to get the Blue hairs off the highways....

This thread is an illustration of how much illegal immigration, the attack on the sovereingty of the US means on this board. Blue hairs? I live in Florida but don't find them to be a problem worth mentioning. Maybe it's your driving that's the problem.

Anyway, judging by the lack of interest to this good news, it simply shows you don't care that a bill was passed to stop the Mexican truckers from coming into the US so you won't care if Bush vetoes the bill. While he has vetoes practically nothing for the last 7 years, our esteemed leader has already threatened to veto this bill to stop the Mexican trucks ........ TODAY!

Dorgan argued on the Senate floor that Mexico had no national database that would permit the FMCSA or the DOT inspector general to verify accident reports or driver violations of Mexican drivers or the reliability of vehicle inspections conducted in Mexico.Hey, I like that! That's the first time I've seen anyone document a specific problem with this program. I was really curious why they really opposed this, since all of the stuff in the media up to this point had been debunked. But this looks like a valid reason to oppose the program, assuming it's true of course.

No! Can't be! The Senate doing something right? I'm actually impressed!

Between killing amnesty and now this, I hope that W and other Pubs pushing them both get the message that we Americans don't want illegals or the opportunity for illegals to find their way here.

I would expect the Judas Shrub to vetoe the bill. This has been the argument against having anything to do with agreements of this sort with Mexico. Besides being overtly corrupt, Mexico does not keep accurate records of anything. In Mexico, all that is needed for you to become a truck driver, is to pay the local print shop for an official looking document that says you are one.

The thing I can't believe is that it's Byron Dorgan (D-ND) who is bringing this to light....hmmmm, something about a broken clock comes to mind...
