SAN FRANCISCO -- One day after Barry Bonds dropped the bomb that he will not be returning as a Giant next season, he sat at his locker and explained how he's not sad, upset or even surprised at the Giants' decision to not re-sign him, just disappointed in the way it was handled and disappointed to be leaving the team that he was the face of for 15 years.

Glad all the Bonds hype went away after the Homerun chase ended! Barry has said he would like to go to an American League team to be a Designated hitter. I can only think of a team or two that might take interest with the money he'll want and one of them is owned by George Steinbrenner, not that they need him or his controversy and antics although George is pretty good about signing headcases. Bonds has never had an arm, but made up for it with a quick release. As for his base running speed and the ability to chase down fly balls, he's seen better days.

About the only thing he has left are his hitting skills. Being a DH would be a good job for him. Plus, he's wanted a ring for a long time. He has been reluctant to sign with the Giants in the past for that reason.

I kind of agree with Bonds here because they didn't give him the chance to come out in public and say it would be his last year in a Giants uniform. Instead, it looks as if the Giants just waited until almost the last minute to dump him.

I have zero sympathy for Bonds! The Giants are a bad team because they have so much money and priviledge wrapped up in Barry that they can't get anyone else of value. If Barry wants to be "the team," I pity whoever signs him.
