Iran Does Far Worse Than Ignore Gays, Critics Say

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s seemingly ridiculous claim that "we don’t have homosexuals, like in your country" masks the cruel reality that his government does far worse than ignore gays, human rights groups charge.

"There are criminal laws on the books in Iran that allows for people to be killed for being homosexual," said Paula Ettelbrick, executive director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

Just how many gays may have been killed — some say the figure is more than 400 — is impossible to determine. But Ahmadinejad’s flip follow-up answer to the question posed to him Monday at Columbia University — "We do not have this phenomenon. They DO, however, have people who engage in homosexual behavior ... but not for long, as when they are found out, UNLIKE the US military which only kicks them out, in Iran they are HUNG (i.e. killed)!

Marlin, beg to differ. It will take much more than Iran's views on homosexuality to make liberals dislike that country. Look at the way they treat women. Tell me the last time you heard NOW and other assorted feminazis condemn Iran, or Islam, for that matter.

Iran is against the USA, particularly against Bush. THAT's why liberals give people like Ahmadinejan such pass.

In townhall.com, I brought that up in one of the fora. A little liberal pipsqueak immediately snorted that the religious right treats homos no better than Iran. See what I mean? As long as Iran - Ahmadinejan - continues to hate Bush and America, liberals will continue to side with Iran.
