WEBSTER CITY, Iowa - <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = AT /><AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton proposed tax cuts of up to $1,000 a year on Tuesday to encourage millions of working-age families to open personal 401(k) retirement accounts.
<AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>The New York senator said the program would be paid for through higher estate taxes.
<AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>At the same time, Clinton said she has given up another idea for a savings incentive - giving every baby born in the United States a $5,000 account to pay for college or a first home.
<AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>Instead, she said, her plan for what she called "American Retirement Accounts" will provide "universal access to a generous 401(k) for all Americans."

You know, the bitch never ceases to amaze me. American workers are already encouraged to start 401K's. If they don't, it's because they choose not too!
Then, since she can't push universal healthcare, she pushes universal retirement funds. I goody!! Something else my taxes will go up for!!:flame:
And lastly, of course she wants everyone to have a 401K. I seem to remember her saying in 2000 that she wanted to levy a tax on 401K's that "with Al Gore as President that she would get things done."
