Since it's close to halloween, I thought it would be fun to post about ghost sightings or UFO encounters. These all have to be true.
My Ghost Encounter:
I was about ten when this happened. I was going to my school's old building (I'm still in the same school, just different building) and I was walking down the halls after school. My sister was in a play about hippies and she stayed until about 5:30 PM.
I decided to go outside and take a walk. I was walking down our football field and I heard something behind me. It was like a little girl's crying, I turned around and there was nothing there. I dismissed it immediatly, telling myself it was my imagination.
My brother, two months later, took a picture of that same football field and in the picture was a little girl that wasn't present when he took it. It scared the crap out of me because of what happened earlier.
My brother did some research and found that our school used to be a farm that got moved because a railroad was being built there. The daughter of the family died of scarlet fever two weeks before it all started.
I'm very realistic when it comes to the supernatural. I don't believe people come back for revenge or they come back to see something. I believe ghosts are demons and/or angels.
So, that's my ghost story. Have you ever encountered a ghost before? Have you ever seen a UFO? Have you ever seen bigfoot? Have you ever seen Hillary Clinton naked? Spooky stories like that, that are true, should be posted up here.
I hope this thread gets a lot of replies.

I don't know what this is, but I still don't believe in ghosts.
One Christmas Eve back at the start of the 80's, my wife, I and our kids went on vacation to my home state. We arrived at night and my uncles and aunts from out of town were at my parents' house. The children, including my younger cousins, were running through the house playing hide and seek. I was seated at the dining table talking with the rest of the adults. I was facing the T-shaped hallway leading to the bedrooms and restroom. The light was off. I glanced at the doorway and managed to see a little girl, around 5 years she looked, wearing a pale yellow dress, but she quickly ran out of sight. At the same time, my wife and one of my aunts turned in the direction of a thump they had heard at the same spot in the doorway. I got up and ran into the hallway, but nobody was there. I grabbed a flashlight and looked into both closets, the bedrooms, under the beds, and finally the restroom. Nobody. I went back and asked which of the kids was wearing the yellow dress. It turned out all the girls were dressed in dark warm workout pants, and they were all wearing hooded sweatshirts. We never found out what had "visited" the house, and then we just shrugged the incident off to trip tiredness.

My maternal grandparents lived on a farm at the end of of a T-crossroad. The road would dead-end at their house, and you could either go right or left, or straight into their driveway. They didn't have a telly until well into their old age, so when I was a child, the after supper activity was to sit on the porch and watch the cars go by. They didn't have a lot of traffic on the three roads, so we did more talking than car watching. One evening at the beginning of dusk, we were sitting on the porch swings just enjoying the evening breeze when we heard a car speeding down the road towards the house. You could tell by the sound it was getting closer, and when it seemed like the car was going to speed through the stop and into my grandparents house, there was a loud crash like two cars had collided viciously. As we sat there listening and looking, there was/were no car(s) in sight. Nothing. Never did get an explanation for that.
I don't believe in "ghosts" though. I do believe there are demon spirits around, and that they interact in and or influence people's lives.

Speaking of cars colliding, my father-in-law, who lives on an island far removed from civilization, in the Philippines, was walking among some boulders by the beach when he heard the screeching sound of a car braking, followed by a loud metallic bang. Hmmmm.

On a side-note, if Satan was cast to Earth after he was evicted from Heaven, where would the damned go? Extrapolating, probably Earth as well.
If scripturally Satan wanders to and fro across the Earth, then the unsaved are probably wandering around in a similar, torpid mixture of bordom and apathy, dazed, like people moments after a traffic accident tumbilng out of their totaled cars, unsure where they are but not asking questions either.
I always felt that (besides demons), ghosts were unable to release their earth-bound selves to go higher. And whatever kept them here, whether it was a grudge or an unwillingness to let go of something, it had the power to chain them within this atmosphere. That's the power of unforgiveness.
I also believe that the center of the Earth is the ultimate destiny of the damned. Born from dust, they belong to the dust, their spirits unable to be promoted beyond their own limitations because they rely on no one else. God cannot help them. They reject Him.
But as C.S. Lewis defined them as per The Great Divorce, ghosts had a general unwillingness to explore anything beyond what affected them most here on Earth and thereby it retarded them. Hell is just one long coma of suffering.
A ghost is trapped in its own spiritual stupidity, unable to achieve aid from Christ.
And perhaps the ghost becomes more and more nebulous, thins out over time which thus gives it the faint, see-through appearance. The spirit in essence becomes less real over time as it is locked into a robotic death march. There is no conversation anymore. It is imprisoned inside a repetitious conversation. And isn't that what damnation is? An endless cycle of nauseous mobius strip? Forgiveness is what breaks that chain and releases the soul and sets them free. However, how rare is that for even people here on Earth? To be truly(not religiously) set free?
And perhaps the damned soul also, in addition to becoming less real, becomes less dense visually, does not fill out as much space, perhaps even shrinks in size. The Earth, the burning middle of the core, could house a lot of pride. There are no regrets in Hell, neither are there any in Heaven. That's what the perfect justice of God means. We are each rewarded according to our own desires. God damns no one. We either accept Christ's work or we do not. That's why eternal torment is justified. God is awesome and He is not a dictator. Hell is just as appealing, if not more, than Heaven. Heaven is a place of letting go. Hell is a place of keeping your past and pretty soon you claw your way around in the dark, travelling the Earth for what hurt you the most, never letting go.
And conversely, Heaven is more filled out, denser, the saved are NOT nebulous, they are not waifs. The saved are huge and as hard as concrete. They have colors, unlike ghosts which are grey. They reflect the power and light of God who infuses them with glory and defines them. Ghosts have no definition, you can see through them. But the saved are even more solid than the angels, as they are indeed now just like Christ, for He has remade them. And that is not a drab act. That is power and clear and distinct. In fact, the saved of Heaven are not 'like' Christ at all. They are Christ.
So, perhaps Heaven is where people become bigger while Hell is a place where people grow smaller. Heaven is a place where its inhabitants appear stronger, faster, more capable, more dense, more real, more color to their cheeks. Hell is a place where its citizens are weaker, slower, depressed, nearly invisible, barely able to express themselves any longer, confused, grey and drab. Without Christ there is no hope. But with Christ there is so much joy that hope can't help but make the impossible appear just around the corner whenever one has the will to invoke Christ's name for anything. Indeed, the saved are Christ. There is a remarkable unity that sows them together, an unbreakable communion whereby the will of God manifests Himself. And this is the Bride, the authentic Church.
Compared to that, the damned are dislocated, sporadic and lack any unity. They are tombs unto themselves, cut off from any communication. They cannot receive input, nor give any. They are islands in time, reflections of ancient conversations. The tired misery of millenia resting on their shoulders like an involuntary tick, they are unable to stop this chronic flinching which, in the end, keeps them bound to Earth, locked into a role that no longer has any meaning apart from the grief that they bring to it each and every terrible second.
This is the ghost. And if you are to ever see one, this is the reason why they don't smile. The seriousness of despair spread out over their joyless features is what life without Christ becomes. There is no laughter, there is only a very narrow exercised will that one locks into as time becomes no more. This is damnation.

Wyatt, you have just written what writers, like your's truly, consider horror non-fiction. I liked the way it was written and the way you hit the points hard. Do you mind if I put this piece on a writer's forum? It's completely private.
Okay, I've gotten that out of the way.
I would be willing to accept this, but doesn't the Bible say that hell is a lake of fire?

On a side-note, if Satan was cast to Earth after he was evicted from Heaven, where would the damned go? Extrapolating, probably Earth as well.Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The "hell" of now is not the final destination. One might compare it to a holding cell where those to be tried wait for the judgment and the final sentence.

@TeenageRepublican: Do you know what became of the photograph?
My brother saw the photograph thanks to his High School Romance that dumped him. She was a part of the photography club that our school has. She then got knocked up by a druggie and to this day we don't know what happened to her.
So, no, sorry.
