OK, I am opening up a subject that was once closed, but it is to provide new evidence:

In the thread, "A Little History about Soros (http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/showthread.php?t=51063)," I questioned an unsourced assertion that Soros was a Nazi collaborator, agreeing with those who pointed out that he was just a youth at the time. I suggested that the claims should be dropped unless evidence was presented.

Well, I found some. An article in The American Thinker so argues, from facts gleaned out of the book Soros: The Life and Times of a Messianic Billionaire, by Michael Kaufman (http://www.amazon.com/Soros-Life-Times-Messianic-Billionaire/dp/037570549X/ref=sr_1_2/002-5756998-9758468?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192196312&sr=8-2).

According to the American Thinker article, it turns out that Soros's father, Tivadar Schwartz, rejected his family's Jewish roots during WWI while a prisoner of war in Russia. He adopted a philosophy of internationalism. When the Nazis entered Hungary, Schwartz and his son George remained aloof from the carnage that was happening to their coreligionists, wheeled and dealed as necessary, and survived the enormity.

As the article (http://www.americanthinker.com/2007/10/the_religious_quest_of_george.html) states:

Astonishingly, he would later recount to his biographer that the years 1944-1946 were "the most exciting time of my life." (Kaufman; p. 48) How could this possibly be? A seventy-year old Soros explains:
"For an adolescent to be in real danger, having a feeling he is inviolate, having a father whom he adored acting as a hero and having an evil confronting you and getting the better of it, I mean, being in command of the situation, even though you're in danger, but basically maneuvering successfully, what more can you ask for?"
The lessons George Soros learned in WWII were simple and crude. He saw his father's (and his own) law-of-the-jungle morality conquer both the Nazis and death, all the while observing that obeying God's laws caused his fellow Jews to perish -- ignominiously, he must have felt. An aging George Soros, to this very day, feels no guilt (interview with Steve Kroft; Sixty Minutes; December, 1998) regarding his own complicity in the Nazis' crimes against humanity, however small it may have been and young though he was. He finds no place among those Holocaust survivors blaming themselves for the deaths of others.

Good stuff.

Its probable that he joined the eastern-bloc secret police. That could very well be the source of his income and other systems that propelled him on his meteoric rise in the west. He deserves an in-depth investigation.

Much like Arnon Milchan from Israel. Sure his family had money, but he joined the Mossad and attained power and real money once there.
