MEXICALI, Mexico - Among travelers, it's jokingly known as Aeromigrante - Migrant Air.

New discount airlines in Mexico are doing a brisk business shuttling migrants to the U.S. border, turning what was once a dayslong trek into an easy hop for legions of workers, both legal and illegal.

"It's much more comfortable than the bus, and about the same price," said Leopoldo Torres, 37, of Mexico City as he stretched his legs aboard Volaris Flight 190 to the border city of Mexicali.

He and a traveling companion, Julio Menéndez, paid $118 each for the three-hour flight. They planned to cross into the United States illegally through the California desert.
Such migrants have become bread-and-butter customers for airlines Volaris, Avolar, Alma, Viva Aerobus, Interjet and Click, all of which have started up in the last two years. Older carriers such as Aero California and Aviacsa have cut their prices to compete.

What happens to a US citizen who is in Mexico illegally?

As long as DC is infested with pandering asswipes who refuse to address the matter seriously, we might as well allow them to land at US airports and shuttle them to wherever they want to go.

Is it time yet to fly the flag upside-down?

Well, you could look at the bright side, how ever small it is...

When a bus breaks down, they still have the "grab your bags and walk the rest of the way" option.

When their plane breaks down half way to it's destination...

FLAP YOUR ARMS REALLY HARD BEANER AND PRAY!

Nice thought, Gonzo, but you're not doing my profession much of a service with this suggestion.

You service US planes. Third world "airlines" are a whole 'nother matter.

But as Doc pointed out, you're not maintaining the fleet at "AirTaco". And if you Do start maintaining that fleet for some reason, I hope that you would see your way clear to giving them less than your "best" work.

For the cause and all....

Very true, Doc, very true but as a side note, here's something disturbing. Many of the airlines are outsourcing heavy maintenance of their airliners to countries like Mexico, El Salvador and other 3rd world countries.
In fact, I know that while I was with Delta, our heavy checks were contracted to Air Canada who in turn sent those planes to Cuba for those checks. Yes, to Cuba! And it was legal since Canada doesn't have sanctions against Cuba.
By comparison, to work on an aircraft in the U.S, a tech must have a license to do so. In these countries I mentioned, you don't. Only the supervisor does and he signs off the work for an entire crew. I won't sign off what some of my co-workers do much of the time so I can't fathom how one signs off work for many.

So no, I'm not maintaning THEIR shit but they ARE maintaining ours! When some of those came back, we had alot of re-work to do. It's rather scary.

Next we'll find out that the airline and air fares are subsidized by George Soros, Hugo Chavez, and al Qaeda.

Instead of filling out customs forms, they are filling out voter registration forms with the Rat party already selected for them.
