I watched most of these, and they were great games (at least the LSU and Cal games were  ). THIS has been an interesting football season, one worth watching (if my OWN teams didn't LOSE so much!).

I'd have been a lot happier had FSU won, though . We really stink this year.

'Course, I'm still coming off the rejoicing from UF losing to GT, and UF losing to LSU & Auburn . And of course, at LEAST Bubba's Dawgs were able to pull it out against Vandy (whew!).

I watched the Beavers burn Cal. Gotta love it when you're beat by a team named after pussies.

And the hilarious final moment when the QB for Cal didn't spike the ball at the end as the seconds ticked away. It blew their chances to tie up for a field goal. Boy was a DUNCE!

L.S.U. will return, the only team in the top three that can compare is Ohio. Lol, I am so glad the Cornsuckers are sucking. I hate Nebrashduh.

I tell you what, that LSU-Kentucky game was about as good a game as I've watched in years!! Unfortunately, someone had to lose.

I agree! It was exciting!

We are Gamecocks fans at our house, and they won this weekend too... :D

I can relate, hun, I come from a dys-fan-ctional family:
My hubby (I refer to him as Bubba, :smirky:) is a Georgia Bulldog
My traitorous son is a Miami whirlwind (i.e Hurricane)
My traitorous daughter is a Tennessee Retreater (i.e. Volunteer)
I'm the only smart one in the bunch, I'm a Florida State Seminole! Go Bobby! Go 'Noles! (Of course, before we go, we need to get a little better at home AND on the road, )

Damn good game, if you have got to lose triple overtime is the way to do it. Kentucky is one helluva a team. But, they are not championship caliber, "yet." Another year or two and look out. Kentucky may just be a dominate football team in the NCAA, definently the SEC.

You have GOT to be kidding! Bobby Bowden is no whiner -- he's one of the stand-up guys! I've watched many an after-game show, and he is the first to admit when they didn't do something right, didn't handle something right, and when his coaching wasn't on par. He is also a wonderful Christian man, who loves his family, and built a dynasty where coaches stay for years, and if/when they DO leave, they go to good jobs and make a difference.

You wanna see a whiner, watch reruns of Boo-Hoo Lou (Holtz), and the current King of Whine, Steve Spurrier! Waa-waa-waaa ... he sacked my quarterback, waaaaaa!

Sorry MW,
That goes back to his days with the swamplizards. One year he was so upset because his widdle 'izards got beat so bad by the 'Noles, he got desperate claiming that officials wouldn't call roughing the passer calls on FSU. He even released a tape to the media to "prove" his point, whining about his quarterback getting sacked so many times. It was simply pathetic.

We used to LIVE for the camera shots of him getting ticked and throwing his visor on the sidelines, http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/biglaugh.gif.

He still throws his visor, and his clipboard... and that IS fun to watch.... I like to watch his face go into all kinds of contortions toohttp://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i151/marshwiggle_2006/cryingwithlaughter.gif

You gotta admit.. he is entertaining... and he sure brought the Gamecocks alive again...and actually a few weeks ago, when we played LSU (the only team we have lost to so far ) they did a fake field goal on us.... and Spurrier was pretty good about it... he just smiled... and later when they interviewed him he said it was pretty slick and gave them their due....

My husband was a big Holtz fan... but they were playing pretty crappy ball toward the end of Holtz' time there....it was definitely time for a change...

I have to admit, I like South Carolina (just not the coach, LOL). I was happy to hear when Lou Holtz got the job, for all his faults I've always felt he was a good coach and I was saddened when he wasn't able to do much with the team. I'm glad they (SC) are faring better now, it's good to have competitive teams in the SEC. I just absolutely, without exception or reservation, cannot STAND King Steve.

The only thing UF ever did that I applaud is NOT give the coaching job back to SS. The way he left down here, was unprofessional and dishonorable. He may be a good coach, but he's not much of a human being, imho.

I don't know all of the details of his leaving Florida... in fact, watching football at all is a relatively new thing for me LOL! I started watching the Gamecocks games a few years ago at my husband's request....and I must admit, like almost anything I take on, that I have enjoyed watching it... I find myself jumping to my feet and screaming at the TV just as I had always seen my husband do LOL! But I know he left to coach pro football... I just don't know the details of the situation....

But there was an incident a few weeks ago, where Spurrier held a press conference to say how angry he was about a couple kids he recruited, who were denied admission to Carolina.... and that kinda ticked me off...

I was a little disenchanted at the whole process of college football recruiting in general when I heard that... I mean I know it is big business, especially in the south... but shouldn't kids have to gain entrance into universities legitmately based on high school records and grades? It seems to me that the education part should come first, and then the football part should fall in line... some of these guys think they are gonna be pros, and some do, but only a small percentage...

I dunno, maybe I just do not understand it all because I haven't been following that long....http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i151/marshwiggle_2006/shrug-2.gif

MW,
I am a BIG college football fan! It's in my family blood. Not only that, I live WAY too close to the swamp-land for comfort. When I was going to school, EVERYBODY wanted to go to UF for college -- not me. My (late) father was a Seminole Alumni. Our family bleeds garnet and gold, :smirky:.

I actually had the misfortune to be employed by the University of Florida for a short period of time. There's a LOT about that school (and college sport in general, to be honest) that's just not right. Dont' hold it too much against SC for their recruiting tactics, unfortunately every school has its problems.

For a while, knowing things about the system made it difficult to enjoy the sport, but soon the love and admiration for the game itself won over. I truly am a football fanatic. Try to filter out the ther stuff and just watch the purity, pleasure, and intensity of the game.

That's the ONLY reason I ever wanted to be boy ... I've ALWAYS wanted to play football, :smirky:.

Oh, and about Spurrier, the jerk couldn't even quit in person, he PHONED it in! Left his team hanging, as well as the school. It was really a tacky way to handlet the situation. I think he was shocked and really ticked when instead of reinstating him automatically after his complete FAILURE in pro-football, UF put him on a "short-list" of coaches. I believe it was his ego that made him pull his name from consideration. He expected the school to bow down and kiss his feet, welcoming him with open arms in a worshipful manner. Boy was HE surprised --
