Welcome to Week Seven, Football Experts!
Some Real tough picks this week.. There's still a number of teams that aren't playing to potential and others that are playing well above expectations. We could see some shakeups. I'm thinking Indy, for one. We'll see..
You know, it's getting Really hard to be a Bears fan this year. :smirky: (not to mention N'awlins and Seattle) What happened to last year's NFC playoff teams? Sheesh.
I probably mentioned before, but where I live and work, just about Everyone watches football. When I go grocery shopping on game day, the cashiers are all wearing NFL jerseys of their favorite team (usually Packers). Everyone, and I mean Everyone has got stickers in their windows, flags on their aerials, etc. It's almost like one huge college tailgate party! And as I probably also already mentioned, about 90% of them are die hard Green Bay fans. The remaining 10% are nearly all Viking fans (who all seem to enjoy bragging that "Real Men Don't Wear Any Rings". :roar:)
So I imagine most of the dirty looks, gestures, honking horns, etc, come from my ragged old Bears flag, flying high, heh. The rest may be from my assorted Conservative bumper stickers, but politics isn't nearly as important in my home town as Football! And when it comes to football, noone is more loved up here in the land of cheese than this guy..

(World record holder for most interceptions in one career, 278 and COUNTING.. Brett Favre.)
But hey, adversity builds character, right? At least I try to think so. And the way I see it, all of these poor cheesers just need Someone to talk trash to in order to feel a closer bond with each other. So when I rib them all week long about how bad the Pack still sucks just to watch Favre go out on Sunday and pull another impossible win out of his helmet, I'm doing Them (my neighbors here in Wischeeseson) a service!
And yeah, I let them gloat for a day or two, before starting in again.
Now last year, this formula worked Great. I mean, the Packers really Did suck, and they had to bust chops just to not end up with a total failure season.. while my Bears were rocking and rolling all year long, winning undeserved game after undeserved game, all the way to the Super Bowl where they finally got schooled by Indy.
But this year I have had to dig deeper and deeper for the hard smack-downs to lay on my friends and neighbors. Oh what is a poor Chicago fan to do? Sometimes I even consider picking Against Da Bears in the weekly pool..

"Da Hell yoo Say!"
Or not.
Anyways, I'm sure you're all sick of my rambling on the first post of all these threads. I know you want to get on with the picks, and we'll do that..
But since it's the Packers' week off, I wanted to pass on this one last important tidbit..
