I cant stay logged in!

I dont know what hell is going on with my computer but I need help.

Here is the deal. I cannot find my cookie folder. I think this is totally bizarre. It was there the other day!

Furthermore I have an anti-spywear program that keeps telling me something has disabled my windows security.

And now... I cant stay logged in. Even when I purposefully click on the remember me option I cant stay logged in. I dont even have to close the page.... if I refresh it I have been logged out.

Its weird and I am freaking out. HELP HELP HELP.

my guess is that your problem is slightly more substancial than spyware

I'd do a full virus scan with up to date definitions and then a spyware scan...that's a start.

Have you disabled your cookies somehow?

First, use windows system restore (assuming you are using windows XP) and restore to the first available date.

Then, reboot the system, going into safe mode.

Once in safe mode, you will not have access to the internet. This is good, because if you have a virus, or a key logger or any hack that is allowing remote access to your system, they also will not have access to your system.

Once in Safe mode, do a full virus scan, and run your spy ware scan and killer if you have one.

If your virus scan finds virii that it can not clean or repair, allow it to quarantine the files.

After all that is done, reboot again. This time into normal mode. Once in normal mode, immediately create a new restore point. Name it in a way that you will know it's AFTER virii and spyware scan.

Check to see if your cookies folder has been restored. If it has, come to the site again, log in as normal, and you should be ok.

If it has not returned, we'll have to check on other possible reasons.

One advisory before restoring: if you have anything on the desktop that you don't want to lose and that was put there after the last restore point, it's wise to put it in a folder and store it elsewhere on the drive. The Restore returns the desktop to what it was when the restore point was created.
