I think this will be another Lopsided world series like 2005.
4-0 Sweep. Red Sox win.
The Rockies did the best they could to make it to the world series without "Buying" their way there.
That they can be happy about even though they will lose the next 3 games.

Not a Rockies fan by any stretch; but don't count your chickens before they are hatched. They had finished off both series rather quickly and looked rusty. They are very capable of putting up lots of runs and the Sox are capable of giving up lots of runs. I think the Sox win the series but in 6.

When it's lopsided, it's very boring to watch if you're not a fan of either team. It's like watching somebody club baby seals to death.
The Rockies didn't want it. They should take their ball and go home if they don't wanna come out and play anymore.

The ALCS for some reason seems to be more entertaining than the World Series the past few years.
The Indians vs RedSox ALCS was very exciting to watch.
2004 ALCS was the best thing then in the world series it was over before it started.

Yeah...I agree. I also think that regular season games/rivalries can be much much more exciting...like when the Giants play the Padres.

Well, at any rate, I think it's cool that the Red Sox made history last night by making the 1st game of the world championship series the biggest blowout in history. The previous records were by 11 points, last night the Bosox won by 12 points. :D
But, I think the next few games will prove to be difficult for the Red Sox. The Rockies are an amazing team this year.

I heard the Cubs/WhiteSox games are intense.
Ozzie Guillen vs Lou Pinella ! Somethings bound to happen !!! :D

Points are made in basketball, rugby, football, darts, etc.
In baseball, it's RUNS. :D

Oh spare me, RL. I'm so sick of this lame ass argument about "buying the series." Money doesn't buy the series. The Florida Marlins proved that a few years ago.

Neil, you're Indians put up a pretty good fight in a losing effort. The Sox just got hot at the right time.
BTW, one of my favorite former Sox players is now an Indian,

Hey Beo, not to stir up the pot or anything, but...
I noticed on Fox that the HP ump was calling strikes for Beckett that weren't strikes. If Fox's little graphic showing the strike zone and where the balls went is correct, then he was calling strikes for stuff that was 4 or 5 inches from the edges of the plate.
Plus, that balk call later in the game against Colorado wasn't a balk. Even the Sox fans didn't cheer or anything after the HP ump called the balk. It was just quiet. They were wondering what happened. Most fans will boo loudly if they even remotely think the opposing team's pitcher balks, but not the Red Sox fans. That particular call is normally made by the 1B ump, not HP. The 1B ump didn't think it was a balk.
I know Boston can win without help from the ump. They got something like 15 hits last night. I don't have a problem with that, but the HP ump did make some bad calls last night.
In reality, it doesn't matter anyway because the Sox are just too talented.
Did the Sox "buy" the ump? No. The Sox don't need any help.
Just an observation.

I seem to remember you saying the Lakers bought championships while the celtics didnt.
The same is true for the Redsox and Yankees. There is a difference between a very good farm system(Marlins 2003) and a team that uses cash to get to the top.
Most of the sox key players did not start out with the RedSox or were free agent pickups.

Giving up three straight run-producing walks in the 5th didn't help the Rockies. There's no defense against bases-loaded walks.

The Rockies looked better tonight, but they made stupid mistakes like getting picked off at first base. Was that guy asleep or what?
Tonights HP ump was just as bad as the guy last night. I don't think I've ever seen umps so liberal with the strike zone.
At least it was a game worth watching. Not a nail-biter, but interesting enough to qualify as a "real" game.

I never said that of the Lakers.

Yeah, the Sox picked up some free agents as all teams do but their farm system has produced some pretty darn good home grown players:
-Youkilis
-Papelbon
-Pedroia
-Delcarmen
-Lester
-Ellsbury
Lowell and Beckett came to Boston in a trade for players. Initially, the Sox wanted Beckett but were also forced to take Lowell. (Thank you, Marlins).
The Sox sent Hanley Ramirez and Anibel Sanchez to Florida, both of which were very good Boston farm system products.
I don't know who you like, RL, but I'm betting I could make issue with the veterans of that team too!!

I listen to the games on the radio so I don't get to see the graphics myself. My only beef is that I have to put up with the ESPN crew instead of Joe Castiglione, the voice of the Red Sox, who will often agree or disagree with an ump and he's pretty accurate. I DO watch game highlights later so I can judge some of the calls but not all of them.
Umps are kinda strange. Some have wide strike zones and some don't. I wouldn't mind seeing some consistancy in that area myself.

The games at Coors should be interesting. Maybe the home crowd can turn on the Rockies offense. I'm a fan of both teams, although I would like to see the Rockies do it this year. Since there were long odds of them making it to the playoffs much less the World Series.

During the ALCS, did anyone see that one player from Cleveland (Asdrubal Cabrera) who was wearing what looked like a big pearl necklace? That was odd...and creepy looking. I heard his wife made it for him.

They lost because Fausto Carmona and C.C. Sabathia kept trying to pitch the same way to 9 different styles of hitting in the Boston line-up.
Sabathia can bring the fastball up at 98MPH but he can't control it.

11:47 PM, 7th inning, 6-5, Sox.
