Bergeron’s jersey and upper-body equipment were cut from his body, and his legs were taped together as the medical team worked on him.
A stretcher was immediately wheeled onto the ice, but it took 12-15 minutes before Bergeron was very slowly lifted onto it and taken from the ice as the crowd cheered.

After initially losing consciousness on the ice, Patrice has regained consciousness and has been taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is undergoing a series of tests,” read a statement from Dr. Bertram Zarins. “Patrice has sustained a concussion and a broken nose. The inital X-rays and CT scans have not shown any other serious injury to his head or neck, and he has full feeling and motion in all of his extremities.

“It’s unfortunate,” said Holmgren. “There was no intent by Randy. He’s one of the gentleman players of the game.”
An unfortunate incident while just playing hard? I certainly hope so.
Prayers offered up for a complete recovery for Patrice...it does sound like he's going to be alright (physically). These kinds of injuries can be career-ending because of the psychological harm done (not being able to get "back in the saddle", so to speak).
