<!-- /byline -->Even if he loses his long-shot bid for the White House, Rep. Tom Tancredo will be leaving the U.S. House of Representatives at the end of 2008.
Tancredo, 61 , waited until after the Colorado Rockies' last out of the World Series on Sunday night before announcing that he plans to retire from Congress at the end of this, his fifth term.
"It's the fact that I really believe I have done all I can do in the House, especially about the issue about which I care greatly (immigration)," Tancredo said in a phone interview from a motel in Iowa.

He still may run with Thompson. He said he is retiring from Congress but going to keep his POTUS run going. He also hinted at possibly running against Ken Salazar for Senate in 2010.

I hope he does run against Salazar. I hope he runs with Thompson even more.

If Thompson wins the nomination, I'd love to see Tancredo run with him... But to be honest, if there's a chance that Tancredo can take Salizar's seat from him, I honestly believe this nation would be better served by having that Senate seat secured for the Pubs by a hardrock Conservative...

We need Tancredo in the Senate more than we need him as a backup to the President...
