U.S. Gunships Battle Pirates Who Seized Tanker Off Somali Coast
Tuesday, October 30, 2007

NAIROBI, Kenya — A pair of American warships battled pirates Tuesday who had seized a tanker off the coast of Somalia, reportedly sinking two pirate vessels and pursuing a hijacked skiff carrying some of the fleeing hijhackers.

The crew of the tanker Golden Mori, which was hijacked Monday night, reportedly fought back and overpowered their attackers, regaining control of the vessel, maritime officials said.

On Sunday, the destroyer USS Porter responded to a distress call from the Golden Mori that it was under attack from two pirate skiffs in international waters off the coast of Somalia near the Socotra islands in the Indian Ocean. The destroyer, on loan to an international task force aimed at stopping piracy and terror in the region, responded with deadly force, sinking both vessels, officials said.

The Porter's sister ship, the USS Arleigh Burke, reportedly was pursuing the escaping hijackers and providing an escort for the Japanese-owned tanker.

There were conflicting reports regarding the Golden Mori's registry, with reports saying it was flying a Panamanian flag, while other reports saying it either was a North or South Korean registered ship....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,306161,00.html

With U.S. Navy Help, Ship Crew Defeats Pirates
Wednesday, October 31, 2007

NAIROBI, Kenya — U.S. sailors brought injured North Koreans aboard their destroyer for medical treatment after the Koreans were shot and wounded in a battle with pirates off the coast of Somalia, the Navy said Wednesday.

The destroyer USS James E. Williams assisted Korean sailors who retook control of their North Korean-flagged vessel Tuesday in a deadly battle with Somali pirates who had hijacked the boat late Monday.

Lt. John Gay, deputy spokesman for the U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain, told The Associated Press that pirate attacks are not rare in U.S. Navy's area of operations and that "it's our duty to help all vessels in distress."

According to the military, the North Koreans asked for medical assistance and gave permission for U.S. Navy personnel to board the ship.

When the Navy boarded the ship with a small team of medics, security personnel and an interpreter, the Koreans already had regained control of the vessel and detained all pirates, the Navy said.

One pirate was dead and three were wounded, while three Korean sailors also were wounded, the Navy said. The Navy medics treated all six for gunshot wounds. The Korean sailors were taken aboard the American destroyer and treated there for two hours. They were returned to the Korean ship the same night.

The pirates remain detained on the Korean vessel, the U.S. Navy said....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,306576,00.html

Kick ass! Take names!

Don't even need to take names ... just send them to the bottom of the ocean ....

Been dealing with Muzzie Pirates ever since 1784 ...

Actually , Muzzie Pirates have been around since the Muzzies started floating boats ... I'm sure President Bush had SOMETHING to do with the Muzzie hatred of non-Muzzie traders back then ....

The surviving pirates will end up in a North Korean prison, and will very soon envy their comrads who simply died.
