Fred Thompson Defends Anti-Abortion Record in New Hampshire

BEDFORD, N.H. — Fred Thompson said Monday he is "100 percent pro-life," despite earlier statements that he would not support a constitutional ban on abortion.

Speaking to FOX News, the former Tennessee senator expanded and revised a statement he made on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday that he would not support a constitutional ban on abortion, and that such decisions should be left to the states.

After talking about the importance of border security, fiscal responsibility and restoring credibility to Washington at the "Politics and Eggs" breakfast in Bedford, N.H., a ritual in the early-voting Granite State, Thompson pledged always to support efforts to restrict abortion rights....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,308181,00.html

What's not being stressed in this issue is that Fred Thompson believes in transferring power out of Federal hands and back into the hands of the individual states - A position of his that I strongly support... That is what he has empahsized over and over as one of the main thiemes of his political beliefs... Hence, he opposes running to the all-encompassing hand of Washington for the answer to every problem...

But of course the MSM cannot think past the 10-second soundbite, and so all they ever give us are the "shocking headlines", with promises of details later if we stay tuned - Details which never seem to materialize...
