AP - 28 minutes ago Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, practically the only politician to come out of Hurricane Katrina looking good, easily defeated a Democratic challenger Tuesday to win a second term.

Good for Haley. I had no doubt he'd win. I hope he gets back on the national 'pub scene after he completes his new term.

He's from the Newt Gingrich era... We need that leadership back on the national stage... This crop of Pubs is working hard to give it all away to the Dems...

and I agree that he did very well in the
aftermath of Katrina, but, hey, don't forget
that Bob Reily in Alabama did pretty well
also. Most folks don't even know that Bama
suffered some pretty bad damage from Katrina
and within hours of it's passing, people from
all over the State had their sleeves rolled up
and their "red necks" bowed and they were
going about the task of "recovery" and didn't
even ask once "where the heck is the Federal
Government?"
Also worth noting, many volunteers from Bama
went to Mississippi and Louisiana to assist there.
As well, Bama took in many, many of the homeless
from Katrina and gave them places to live, jobs,
medical care, food, financial assistance and schools
for their kids..................
Just a note, to not forget that Bama was there on
the "front lines" of Katrina..............
