I am curious to know what those of you here
know/think of Duncan Hunter. Everything I
have read about him is positive concerning his
conservative beliefs and the only time I herd
him speak, I was impressed with him. Is he
for real? Have any of you had the opportunity
to listen to him? Would he be a good nominee
for VP regardless of who is the presidential nominee?

Thanks for your consideration

I could easily support Hunter for President or VP... He's rock solid, IMO...

Sadly as are most of the really good conservatives, he's on the back tier and has no chance of winning the nomination...

The idea of Hunter as VP works for me...

As of right now, I support Hunter for President. He's the only one of the crowd that realizes just how biiiiiiiiiiiiig a mistake 'free trade' was/is.

Though I agree with PoD on the FT issue, Duncan would be the perfect choice for Veep.

I think he is good. And would be a good V.P. But I don't know what he would bring to the ticket in terms of votes. California is going to go for Hillary, I don't think he can change that. So maybe someone from the South would be a more practical choice. Maybe Huckabee, not sure about that. Who else from the south, eh.....yeah, sure Thompson if he would consider it. If not who else?

I am currently trying to help Duncan Hunter win the Prez Nomination (even though I realize there is little to no chance of that happening). I would love to see him get the VP nod if he doesn't get the main slot.

Hunter is great, but protectionism is stupid.
Huckabee is great, but he likes amnesty.
Paul is great, but a moron on foreign policy.

I think I'll go with Hunter

Duncan Hunter is a fabulous guy and would make a fine president or VP - anything! He's smart, tough, solid and a thoroughly decent and honorable man.

I agree that he seems to be a true conservative and
that he seems to have the courage of his convictions
(something that is a rare comodity in D.C.). Miracles
happen (reference the Mayoral race in Indy), but it
does seem to me that he has little to no chance
of winning the nomination. I guess Ann Coulter isn't
quite as powerful within the conservative movement
as the Dem's potray her. Not nocking Coulter, just
pointing out that she is openly endorsing and supporting
Hunter and it doesn't appear to be the "difference maker".

Rudy: bothers me..........it it comes down to Rudy or
Hillary, it seems to me that Rudy would be the
choice, but it also seems that I would be just
be voting for a "republican socialist" as opposed
to a "Clintonian socialist" and that's the lesser
of two evils.........sigh.............

Romney: bothers me...........but not nearly as much
as Rudy. Again though, he (in the past) has
displayed "socialist" tendencies that concern
me, but I will say that he appears to have
the courage of his convictions and the strength
of moral convictions that I believe (in my opinion
only) that Rudy may lack. I do not believe that
Romney could beat Hillary, but maybe the Hillary
negativity would suprise me.

Fred: I like Fred and since Duncan Hunter seems to have
little to no chance, it appears that I will support Fred
and I really don't have a problem with that. I have
no real reservations about Fred that would prevent me
from supporting and voting for him. Can he beat Hillary?
I believe that IF he gets the nomination and the Repub
machinery rally behind him he could. I believe it would
be close, but I believe he could win. I do believe that
he has to begin outlining "real solutions/ideas" to our
Nation's problems and not just "have a vision". I am
sooooooooo DARN SICK of that particular sound byte
and it turns me off from any canidate using it.
I always want to tell them "lay off those funny mushrooms
and all those visions will clear up fella".

What would Duncan Hunter bring to a National campaign?
Well, from what I know (and that isn't too much) he would bring
a firm backing from conservatives be they Republicans, Blue Dog
Dems or Independents. From what I've read and herd and seen
the comments here, Hunter is well respected by conservatives
especially Constitutionalists, right to lifers, and State's rights
people and pretty much all of the Republican Party. So, any
tickte that included Hunter would gain my support and vote.
Ok, I know, that's JUST 1. But, then, hey,

Good post. I agree with most of it except for your position of Romney over Rudy. Romney (not his campaign) is a weak man. He'll say anything to get elected. He's also a coward. I've posted elsewhere and recently why I think that about him, so I won't go into it again here.

It's just a shame that Hunter doesn't have more support. But this country hasn't elected a president directly from the House in over a century. Hunter is my guy for the primary unless Romney or Thompson are within striking distance of Rudy. If Romney is, I vote Rudy. If Thompson is, I vote Thompson. Otherwise, I'm sticking with Hunter. Right now, Rudy's ahead by 10 in CA, my state.

Four reasons he hasn't a chance in hell of winning anything in today's political world!
