Republican Recovery
A landslide in 2008?

By Jim Geraghty

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>Gloom hangs over Republicans when they think of next year’s elections — but it shouldn’t. The sea change in political fortunes between 2004 and 2006 should not remind Righties only that the winds can change quickly — from a supportive breeze at your back, to a gale-force wind in your face — they should also be reminded that the political landscape can get better fast, too.

Next year could be a surprisingly good one for the GOP, though it’s clearly not guaranteed. The party will need good candidate recruitment, message discipline, a clear, unifying agenda, and a bit of good luck. But on a wide variety of fronts, there are pieces of good news that are overshadowed by the mainstream media’s preferred “Democratic-Tsunami Part Two” narrative.

I recommend reading the entire article as his analysis is very insightful. He breaks down the POTUS and both houses with the good the bad and the ugly. Very upbeat and very possible.

From what I garnered from his article is this: 'Rats with Hitlery at the top of the ticket makes not only the POTUS but both houses very vulnerable. With a gale force wind at their backs the 'Rats just barely squeaked by in many house/senate races in 06.

It still is an uphill battle with finding unbeatable candidates but they are out there and the 'Rats aren't doing much better in their search for candidates either; outside of Va.

Great read if you are feeling troubled by the DBM's constant bleak outlook for the GOP.

That was indeed a good article - And he makes some very good points that everyone should take to heart...

We all need to keep in mind that the bleak outlook for the Pubs is noise that is coming exclusively from the DBM and they never tire from trying to convince America that the Pubs are losers and we should all join the winning Dembo team...

If the RNC runs their business right, we could in fact do very well in this election...

One thing I took away from his analysis - We might just want Hilary to be the Dem candidate afterall... She's sounding more and more like the ultimate liability...

I got the exact same read, but didn't have the nads like you to say we just may need Hitlery to be the candidate... I was told early on, be careful what you wish for!

Actually I like how the Democrat primary is forming up... If it continues in the same vein it is following now, the Dems are going to approach the general election with severely beat up and diluted candidate, whomever they settle on...

At the rate she is hemmoraging today, Hilary might just be the ultimate dream opponent for the Pubs to face... Obama and Edwards are going to fight her right to the end - Because Obama has lots of anti-Hilary leftist money behind him, and Edwards is driven by his ego and will fight to the end... Both will beat her up throughout the primaries...

Then, assuming she wins the primary election, she has to face an energized Pub candidate that has his own battery of embarrassing questions to raise about her... And any of the Pub frontrunners, IMO, can take an energetic, hard fight to the witch...

And the way the President goes, that also is often the way the Congressional elections go...

Im beginning to think that this race just might end up being ours to lose... The whole thing just might fall right into our laps...
