NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former President Clinton said Monday his wife can handle the criticism from her presidential rivals even though "those boys have been getting tough on her lately."

Clinton's comment comes amid debate as to whether the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign's complaints about her rivals' "piling on" suggest the criticism is directed at the lone woman in the presidential race or the Democratic front-runner.

Last week, Bill Clinton. in defense of his wife against political critics, cited the "swift boat" television ads of the 2004 presidential campaign that questioned John Kerry's patriotism and the campaign commercials in 2002 that suggested Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia was soft on terrorism.

Several Democratic candidates said they were surprised by the analogy.

A crybaby will never make it as President.

They want it both ways - They want Hilary to compete with "the boys" when they think she has the upperhand, but when the campaign gets nasty, suddenly she's just a poor little girl they are beating up on... Everyday must be a new challenge for Hilary's handlers - Today shall she be the tough feminazi or shall she be the feminine girly victim?...

Keep it up, Bill... You're cutting your wife's chances everytime you open your mouth...

And Rush brought up the issue that Bill called em, "those boys"... Is Bill aware that one of those BOYS is an African American? Bad form, that, old boy...:brow:

Regardless, she's still comfortable in the kitchen :)

There's an African American running for President? When did this happen? When did he join the race? What's his name? Ohhhhhh you mean Obama.....

Obama is whiter than Colin Powell! I've seen KKK members who are blacker than Obama. Hell, Bill Clinton is blacker than Obama!

Obama is the only "black" person in America who has to routinely go for a tanning session before public appearances. Obama is a credit to his make-up staff!

Anybody with one firing brain cell can see that both Bubba and Hitlery are demons because being married to either one of them would be HELL.

I still don't believe she will even get the nomination. In the heartland there are still too many old fashioned types that wouldn't vote for a woman. If she does get it, my bet is that it will be because because those people stay home and the big liberal cities are the only ones voting. Hillary has to hope too that they feel the same about voting for a black man. But I think we are probably past that point in our history. But even if Obama was green I would see liberal so I don't know how the liberal weighs those 2 against each other. Obama certainly hasn't been one of the ones picking on her that I have seen, but I guess Bill thinks so.

Suze, there are an awful lot of women in congress elected from the heartland. I think if she tanks it will be because of the honesty and trust factor, not that she's (ostensibly) a woman.

As an extremely popular 'rat, one of Bubba's jobs is to chastise the base and the opponents for any suggestion or deviation from the Clinton campaign meta-narrative. He's so well liked by them and the media he could dump an outhouse all over them and they would applaud and nod like the obedient little subjects they are.

Women in Congress is one thing... A woman as commander-in-chief is a whole different game... I believe that is the reality America is going to come to when they start to seriously consider the choices in the General election...

I think the top roles are viewed much differently. We have a female congress woman too. But they didn't want one for governor. One of the few times WV has had a republican governor is when Charlotte Pritt ran. People actually would say they wouldn't vote for her because they didn't want a female governor in that race. Plus you have certain areas within a state that will lean more to one side or the other that I don't think would equal in amount to a national election. But we shall see I suppose.

Yeah, thinking more about it, you may be right, considering the South and the mid-south. But, in Hillary's case on a national level, I wonder if it's strictly a matter of her (alleged) gender or more a matter of the fact that we are at war and also because she, in particular, is perceived as being a devious and less than forthright woman. LOL! I wonder how many guys out there think she reminds them of their shrewish ex-wife? :D

I think one feeling just adds to another in her case. Whatever it is that bothers people about her if they consider any other issue a negative it probably just adds a cherry on top of their biggest peeve.

I swear I had not read your post when I made mine. :thumb:Its my telepathic thought control I've been practicing... You see, I bought this telepathy course off the back cover of the comic book and.... Well, you don't want to hear all the details...:D

I honestly believe (assuming she wins their nomination), when Middle America sits down around their kitchen tables to decide what box they will check on election day, the whole glaring reality of the insanity of Hilary as President will come crashing down around them... It's what Im praying foranyway...

Yes, I hear hers were installed backward.

Every 28 days or so she gets nice... lasts for about 5 days or so, then she's back to normal.
