Anti-War Voters Lash Out at Democrats They Helped Put in Office
Nicholas Johnston Tue Nov 13, 12:02 AM ET
Nov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- When the Democratic Party called up recently to ask Myrna Burgess for a campaign contribution, she answered with an emphatic ``no.''
``Nothing has been done as far as the war is concerned,'' said Burgess, 72, an Amtrak worker from Levittown, Pennsylvania.
More than a year after anti-war voters like Burgess helped give Democrats control of Congress, there are more troops in Iraq, lawmakers have approved almost $100 billion in new war spending and congressional approval ratings are at record lows.
Democrats now worry that their inability to make good on campaign promises to end or slow the war in Iraq will have consequences. The disaffection has already fueled at least four anti-war primary challenges to party incumbents, raising fears among some lawmakers of an intra-party fight that could drain momentum before next year's elections.

Yes, words have consequenses. Democrats are such ninnys.
Well, maybe these discontented donors can get on the Ron Paul Bandwagon and contribute to his run.

That's some refreshing good news, Lub. Let's pray that the disenchantment grows and they stay home next November.

Our lone representitive, Peter Welch, has been getting it here in Vermont. He's been getting grilled by supporters because he won't vote to initiate impeachment procedings vs. the President and Vice President nor will he vote to cut funding for the war. Fine with me!

Fox News mentioned this morning that the Dems are going to re-double their efforts to obstruct the war... I suppose this is the reason why...
Since the Dems are prone to use the word Quagmire, I believe that is an appropriate word to apply to this mess they find themselves in... Having public invested their political capital foolishly in an antiwar campaign at a time when most of America is on a patriotic wave, they find themselves in a no-win situation...
If they back off the anti-war activities, the radical Lefties withdraw their support... So they desperately rush to regain those votes (and money - let's not forget the money), and in doing so, they alienate the rest of America (yes, that would be the majority for those keeping score), at a critical time in the campaign season... Thus handing valuable political capital to the Pubs...
Hellova plan... One wonders when the Dems will give the boot to Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, etc., as their party leaders...

The rats are between Iraq and a hard place, and I'm alovin' it. They put themselves into a tight spot: offend Soros, MorOn and the rest of those America-loathing assholes or offend the American people. IMO, they'll go with their cash cows and screw the people. They're too blazingly stupid to see that they're committing political hara-kiri.

They won't offend Soros, deep wallet.

That's what they do the best, obstruct. This new Congress is still in minority party mode, they're afraid to act and now are trying to wait on Hillary.

It's an endless cycle on their part, a hamster wheel. You think they would've got a clue in the 2004 elections, but they didn't.

Well, the Senate next year is structually "challenging" for a party changeover, but Pelosi and Reid are probably both out within two years, anyways. Any incumbent next year in a "swing" area is in for an uphill battle.

d'urville, they DO offend Soros, MoveOn, Cindy Sheehan, etc. All those clueless maggots have only one wish: to lose the war on terror. One way of doing that is by declaring defeat and bringing the troops back (remember Vietnam?). Problem is, demunists in office know too well that the majority of the American people WANT to WIN the war, and are against defeat and surrender.
Not even Soros' deep pockets have succeeded in making the demunists in office bring a defeat to a complete circle. Oh, sure, they hem and haw and make useless and half-hearted pronouncements, and all that (think Hillary's perpetual flip-flopping on the issue). But they come to a screeching halt short of actually DOING anything that would actually bring our soldiers back. Rather, they try to make Bush cave in and sign a "bring the troops back" thingy so they can blame him when the American people raise hell.
Poor bastards, you almost feel sorry for demunists in office (emphasis on 'almost'). They are indeed between Iraq and a hard place, as the Doc says. Can you imagine the pressure they must be getting from the Soros crowd? But hey, they are not THAT stupid. They know what it will cost to cause an American defeat.
I love it.

I always wonder if any of these anti-war protestors have ever held a real job.

Welcome to FC, RK!
There is no indication of it. They always have abundant free time for marches and protests. It's likely that they're largely welfare parasites and college "students".

 Peacenik nutbags don't understand that wars are started/provoked by despots seeking to rob others of their freedoms. They think that wars are started by freedom-loving people... who are only trying to defend themselves from the despots. They conveniently fail to notice that they couldn't stage their protests outside the palaces of the despots they seek to defend.

They conveniently fail to notice that they couldn't stage their protests outside the palaces of the despots they seek to defend. In many of those countries, they couldn't stage protests within the borders other than as officially appproved steam-pressure blowoffs that have no effect.
The idiots who march in US streets bitching and wailing about freedom of speech ought to be on their faces kissing the ground and thanking God that they live here.
