House Passes $50 Billion Iraq War Funding Bill
Thursday, November 15, 2007

WASHINGTON — House Democrats pushed through a $50 billion bill for the Iraq war Wednesday night that would require President Bush to start bringing troops home in coming weeks with a goal of ending combat by December 2008.

The legislation, passed 218-203, was largely a symbolic jab at Bush, who already has begun reducing force levels but opposes a congressionally mandated timetable on the war. And while the measure was unlikely to pass in the Senate -- let alone overcome a presidential veto -- Democrats said they wanted voters to know they weren't giving up.

"The fact is, we can no longer sustain the military deployment in Iraq," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "Staying there in the manner that we are there is no longer an option."

The White House pledged to veto the bill, and Republicans said they would back the president.

"These votes, like the dozens of previous failed votes, put the interests of radical interest groups ahead of the needs of our military and their mission," an administration statement said.

The bill represents about a quarter of the $196 billion Bush requested for combat operations in the 2008 budget year, which began Oct 1....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,311772,00.html

This is nothing but politcal posturing in response to recent polls that show the public, especially democrat voters, disgusted with Congress's inability to do anything at all... Its all just a meaningless show...

She, and democrats like her, know this bill won't pass. As a matter of fact, they support the war. It is the only thing going for them in this next campaign.

I can see Hillary in 2008. "Well we can't pull out now because I know much more than I did when running for President now that I am President."

Democrats in congress damn well support this war, they just want to be perceived as the anti-war candidate, and Americans are gullible enough to suck it up.

By far the worst thing that can happen to the Demon Rats, is if we conclude the post-war occupation period that has been in place since the victory in mid-2003. The Demon Rats, much like actual rats, need filth and garbage to fester in for them to thrive. Without their made up war as a pet issue they have nothing else to run on and will lose the next election by a landslide. All the DR's are now hoping we invade Iran, so they can start using the media again to paint false images and pollute the brains of the academic elitists and the people who have never worked a day in their lives.

Democrats said they wanted voters to know they weren't giving up.Wrong! They want George Soros, MoveOn, ANSWER and the other America-loathing, Bush-bashing left-wing extremists that the lips of the RAT party are still surgically grafted to their buttocks, and that they are still in thrall to our country's enemies.

The RATs have, IIRC, pushed 59 of these resolutions. They've done nothing else since January. And we're paying the despicable traitors to attempt to sell out the US and the military.

If those pricks are still in the House in January 2009, the assholes who reëlected them should be exterminated.
