I just saw that The Hunt for Red October was playing again on TV. I always enjoyed the movie, and there are some other very good submarine movies.
Here are my faves:
1. The Hunt for Red October
2. Das Boot
3. K-19: The Widowmaker
4. The Enemy Below
5. The Bedford Incident
6. Run Silent, Run Deep
7. Destination: Tokyo
8. Gray Lady Down
And for laughs,
9. Operation Petticoat, and
10. Down Periscope
Anyone else have any favorites?

I've always liked The Enemy Below and The Bedford Incident. Das Boot is IMHO the best of your list.

Das Boot and Hunt for the Red October. Hunt as Fred Thompson in it...

The Bedford Incident. Not only a great navy flick but a superb character study.

Yep. That movie was a lot of silly fun. I always get a big kick out of Rip Torn (R. Adm. Winslow).

It definitely shows the potential effects of single-minded obsession.

Didn't really think there were that many movies about submarines. How about The Yellow Submarine?

"Down Periscope" was a riot. I'll never forget the admiral's line:
Admiral: "What I need is a man with a tatoo on his dick."
Kelsey Grammer: "Well, Sir, I just happen to be your man."

I LOVE "Destination: Tokyo" with Cary Grant.
