For some reason today, I can't seem to get any YouTube videos to play. They begin, but after 2 seconds in, the screen freezes and nothing else happens. I have rebooted, refreshed, waited a couple of hours and tried again to no avail. Any suggestions?
(Sheesh! Lately I feel like I live in the Tech Zone, can't seem to get this computer thingy to work right nowadays!)

I've been having the exact same problem. I'm trying to watch Mad TV clips but they don't load. Maybe YouTube has something against the Low-Tech...

Okay, I still cannot play any YouTube videos. Could something have happened with the settings on my computer without me knowing it? I haven't done anything, changed any security settings or anything.

LOL Pete ...
If Gonzo's that good long distance, I can't imagine how well he could fix my computer if he had it there in front of him, :smirky:.
I can't say I figured out what the problem was, but I think I at least fixed it (even if it's temporarily). I just my whole computer down, left it off for 30 seconds, rebooted, then did a scan and cleaned the disk. Now the videos work ... go figure!

If you're using Internet Explorer, empty the cache every so often. If it fills, it can cause weird effects while browsing.
In IE, Tools > Internet Options > Delete files purges the cache. It cleans out many megabytes of junk. It's also useful to empty the cookie jar once in a while.

That's the extent of my fixing too. Gonzo bought the 'Windows For Dummies' years ago, but I got confused so it's in my desk drawer now, right under ' IRS taxes for Dumbasses'.

Maybe you should get your own sub-forum.

Okay, so I switched to FireFox ... yes, I LOVE it ... BUT ...
I can no longer embed videos from youtube, and now I can't watch them either! They appear to (try) to load, but nothing ever happens. The "switch" changes when I hit the play button, but again, nothing ever happens. The box where the video is supposed to play just stays black.
What have I done?

There is a firefox plug in for video content.

Where can I get that from? The firefox mainpage?

Try clicking the Play button twice. That's what I have to do with Opera.
And: Better YouTube Firefox Extension (http://lifehacker.com/software/exclusive-lifehacker-download/better-youtube-firefox-extension-319925.php)

I have to click it twice when I view it on another sources (like it's embedded at a website like HotAir). But when I go to YouTube itself, the video USED to just start playing automatically, now it doesn't. If I click the button I'm actually setting it to pause, because it automatically started to play when I got on the site, but still nothing happens.

Firefoz keeps things from launching automatically, it helps keep you from getting embedded viruses.
