Wounded Soldier: Military Wants Part Of Bonus Back

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.

To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.

Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.

One of them is Jordan Fox, a young soldier from the South Hills.

He finds solace in the hundreds of boxes he loads onto a truck in Carnegie. In each box is a care package that will be sent to a man or woman serving in Iraq. It was in his name Operation Pittsburgh Pride was started....http://kdka.com/local/military.signing.bonuses.2.571660.html

Fox News was talking about this tonight. The Pentagon told them they were 'looking into' the problem.

Wow, that is beyond horrible. If I was standing in this guys room and some army guy came around asking for their money back, I think I would want to hurt him.

Our army needs to fix this right away.

What next? Some stinking Clinton holdover sonsofbitches from the era of corruption, demanding that dead servicemen who die on active duty have their widow's benefits taken away for non-accomplishment of contract?

This is just wrong! This is like the military saying that it's their fault for not avoiding the speeding bullet or they should have been more careful around IED's.

It cannot be a situation of anything except some anti-American lefty friend-of-Hillary's in the pentagon did this deliberately, to both insult the troops and make the administration look bad. If that is the case, I HOPE somebody over there at the pentagon will have the cajones to fire the SOB immediately with a resounding boot to the ass out the door.

I know the President can't micro-manage the whole government, but Bush outta be all over this like a tornado of teeth and claws... Whoever that bureaucrat is that conceived of such an obscene act should be fired - ON THE SPOT!:flame:

I would imagine this is just a bureaucratic mistake. It's quite likely that those tasked with recovering bonus money have no idea what the medical status of these troops is. Large organizations are known for such inefficiencies due to compartmentalization of responsibilities, and the military is absolutely no exception. I can't count the number of times I've seen it. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Large corporations are the same way. The more each task is subdivided, the more the people accomplishing them lose sight of the overall picture.

The way things are going, I shouldn't be surprised.

You don't think it's possible for someone who works for the current administration to do that? It is the Pentagon we are talking about here.
