Germany Tells Israel: No More Holocaust Reparations
Thursday, November 22, 2007

JERUSALEM — Israeli Holocaust survivors asked Germany's finance minister Thursday to improve a reparations arrangement set up a half-century ago, but he said no additional money would be paid.

Survivors reasoned the original 1952 accord with Israel did not account for their unexpected longevity or apply to tens of thousands of Holocaust victims who came to Israel following the Soviet Union's collapse.

Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck rejected the appeal, said Zeev Factor, a Holocaust survivor who took part in the meeting.

"He said Germany reached an agreement with Israel on this matter ... and isn't willing to touch the agreement," Factor said....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,312579,00.html

Me too. It is the same thing with slave reparations. What the generation before me did, or ten generations before me did, is none of my concern and I don't owe black people shit for what their great great great ancestors suffered from.

However, I think anyone directly affected by the Holocaust (they were put in camps, tortured, family members killed, etc) should still receive reperations until death. It is only fair and right. Many of these people had their entire lives taken from them, including their dignity. And I can only imagine the nightmares I would still be having.

Otherwise, too damn bad.

If it were the current German governmant that did that too them, perhaps. But not when the Nazis have already been completely overhauled.

It is the same thing with slave reparations.Disagree. There are still people alive who survived Auschwitz, Mauthausen, etc, whereas there are exactly zero slaves alive from the days of the Old South. But enough's enough. Time to get past it and live today.

Disagree. There are still people alive who survived Auschwitz, Mauthausen, etc, whereas there are exactly zero slaves alive from the days of the Old South. But enough's enough. Time to get past it and live today.

I did address that though. And I partially agree with you to some extent. I think they probably have received their fair due.
