WHITEWOOD, S.D. — If the Rev. David Baer has his way, the Whitewood City Council will change the name of one of the...town's streets.

Hooker Street doesn't quite lend itself to a family atmosphere and is offensive to some residents...

Didn't the slang term "hooker" (for prostitute) actually derive from Gen. Joseph Hooker? Maybe it's only an urban legend, but I had heard that the prostitutes who followed Gen. Hooker's division around got to be known as "Hooker's Brigade."

Speaking of.........what exactly are Asians supposed to do in this day and age? They have last names like Ho and Fat, full names like Hung Dong Long, etc. What the hell do they do? Nobody is allowed to laugh at them, so nobody wants to be around them or meet them for fear of committing at least a major faux pas in laughing right out loud when introduced or getting sued at the worst.

Angelina Lor initially claimed that Pheuk Kue, 37, a convicted sex offender, took her to Green Bay against her will in September and held her there until she was able to escape about two weeks later. But in an e-mail earlier this month to Kue's lawyer, Lor acknowledged that she made up the story because she feared her parents' reaction to her running off with an older man.
