A Dutch couple has sparked outrage by giving up a seven-year-old South Korean girl they adopted as a baby – after claiming she didn’t “fit in” with their life-style.

The diplomat and his wife, who had taken in the child after failing to conceive, handed her to social workers in Hong Kong after having two biological children. They claimed the girl, who was adopted when four months old and has lived in the territory since she was three, was struggling to adapt to their culture, including food. Now the Hong Kong’s Korean community is trying to find a home for the unnamed child who is currently in foster care after being given up last year. The girl, who speaks English and Cantonese but not Korean, is neither a Dutch citizen nor a Hong Kong resident, so her future in the territory is uncertain.

This is sickening!
My son is 14 and hasn't gotten past the mac and cheese stage yet but I'm giving him up!
I hope these people never have children! They aren't worthy!

Wait... something is SERIOUSLY not right...

giving up a seven-year-old South Korean girl they adopted as a baby

Ok, they adopted her when she was a baby, she's now SEVEN YEARS old...

had taken in the child after failing to conceive

Ok... tried to have a baby, didn't work, so they adopted. I get it....

was adopted when four months old

Ok, more detail. She was 4 months old when adopted, 7 years old when abandoned. They had her for about 6 years and 8 months...

Hong Kong’s Korean community is trying to find a home for the unnamed child who is currently in foster care

6 YEARS and 8 MONTHS and they were unable to give her a name in all that time!?!?!?!?

Sorry, but sadly, it appears that little girl was "abandoned" when she was 4 months old.

Truly sad. I wish there was a way I could take her.

They apparently have since had two children of their own. I honestly feel sorry for those 2 kids as well.

I know we have other adopted freecers here besides myself, but I won't try to speak for them, only me ... one of my BIGGEST fears growing up was that I was "not good enough" and that my parents would take me back to the adoption agency they got me from. This fear was SO great, that when I was raped and found myself pregnant, I had an abortion and began a personal decline into drugs and alcohol ... I blamed myself, no longer felt worthy of my parents' love and believed that if they ever found out what happened to me, they would take me back (no matter that I was a teenager).

The pain and rejection this poor child must be suffering, and at such a young age. What she must have gone through living with those that must have telegraphed with their words and actions that she was uwanted. The mental and emotional turmoil, while I can't completely understand, I can certainly imagine. Prayers will be lifted up for her, surely the Lord must have bigger plans for her life. When our mountains are that steep, the rewards for being able to reach the top are usually tremendous. Blessings be upon her.

Ya know this infuriates me. How someone could do that to a child is beyond me.

They had no love for or caring for this girl???? That long and nothing? Sick and wrong. UGH!!!

There is no reason that the baby could not become accustomed to any food set before it based on race. My guess is that the girl is lactose intolerant; that's all. So is my sister's son. They adjusted and adapted. That's life.

My aunt and uncle adopted a girl from China 4 years ago. They said it was the most rewarding thing they've ever done.

"the diplomat and his wife".........yep, that confirms what I've thought all along.....these bureaucrats..these politicians...they don't give a rat's ass about "people".....they care only about themselves, their self-gratification, their own shallow, pseudo-elitist self-image....and to hell with the riff-raff of the world......"We are the elite!" Bastards!

edit: Please note....the above INCLUDES our own homegrown bureaucrats and politicians....in fact, they are the reason for my thoughts.

Can't say I blame you for thinking that, Mike. This poor girl was probably their trophy baby. Once they had their own, she became irrelevant. Nice.

Why didn't they adopt a white baby, if they are so, ah, squeamish?

But Mr Poeteray told the same newspaper: "Our daughter is ill, that's why we had to part ways."
"After our daughter came to our family we found it was hard to make real contact with her... in 2004 Hong Kong medical specialists diagnosed that she suffered from fear of bonding in a severe form," Mr Poetering said.

Also from the same article.

But a Hong Kong MP, Fernando Cheung, denied that the girl had been ill.
"The girl is actually in good condition. She's been observed by the experts from the social welfare department and she is perceived to be a normal healthy girl," he said.
"She seems to be living, or basically having a good condition under the current care of the foster parents."

You've got to be kidding me. Stop spreading the blame around here. These people are disgusting, not because they are "liberal scum," or cannabis users. You can't be serious when it seems you blame this on cannabis, but are relieved they are straight.

Homes, your story really got to me, I couldn't begin to imagine what you've been through, and have great respect for anyone that can bring their selves out of what I imagine seems like a hopeless situation. :claps:

I think by "unnamed child" it means the kid's name is not being disclosed to the public, though I don't know why keeping it a secret would be necessary.
