View Full Version : Favorite TV Shows

TeenageRepublican

My favorite TV shows are divided into different genres in no special order... at all:

Comedy
The Simpsons
According to Jim (Corny, but it's still funny)
South Park
The George Lopez Show
Family Guy
American Dad
Fraiser
Seinfeld
Mad TV (What SNL used to be)
Malcolm in the Middle
King of the Hill
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (BRING THIS SHOW BACK NOW!!!!!)
'Till Death

Thriller
24
Law & Order-Any of the spin-offs
Drive (Why did they cancel this awesome show 4 episodes in?)
Justice (Canceled, I'm pissed at Fox for doing that)
CSI-Any of the spin-offs
NCIS
House (I'm not surprised Hugh Laurie was nominated. He played a fluffy loving father in movie, in this, he's a genius that most people consider cruel)

Other
Beyond Belief
The Twilight Zone B&W (Screw the colored version)
Ghost Hunters
Myth Busters
Hannity & Colmes (I've seen this a couple of times, I don't have cable or dish)

Okay, if any of you have the (or mostly) the same interest in shows that I do, recommend one...or five. I might be able to catch one. I'm looking for conservative talk-shows though.
What are your favorite TV shows?

Red Dwarf was extremely funny, but it's not the best TV show ever. Probably the best British TV show ever, but not the best TV show ever.

Speaking of Fraiser, I think of myself as him all the time. I think I'm like a redneck version of him.

The Ropers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ropers)

On the other hand, there was the great, and under-rated, Second City TV ("SCTV"):

From 1976 to 1982, SCTV was contemporary with, but overshadowed by the then-new Saturday Night Live. SCTV had a great cast with John Candy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001006/), Rick Moranis (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001548/), Martin Short (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001737/), Harold Ramis (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000601/), Eugene Levy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0506405/), Catherine O'Hara (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001573/), Dave Thomas (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0858686/), Andrea Martin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0551908/), and Joe Flaherty (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0280886/). The head writer was Brian Doyle-Murray (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0236519/) (Bill Murray's brother).

I actually don't know why they don't just hold off on premiering indefinitely. They only have eight episodes. If they run out and the writer's strike is still going, then that will just create an awkward break in the season's flow whenever it would be able to return.

Because there have been several "awkward breaks" during the run of the series as it is. I never new when there was a "new" episode coming on. It would be like three in a row and then two reruns. I don't think (save the first season) there's ever been a consecutive run in the series' history. I think they are trying to build suspense with the cut-and-run approach. I just hope they don't LEAVE it on Thursdays.

As far as Lost goes, I just wait until the series is over for the season, then borrow the DVDs from a friend and watch them all in a week.

That's the point, the cheese, LOL. Did you ever watch the original movie that the tv show was a spin-off from? If not, go rent the "Buffy, The Vamipre Slayer" movie. You might be able to get it from your local library -- ours is well stocked with all kinds of movies.

If you ever want to watch the best episode (imho) of Buffy, watch "Once More, With Feeling." It's the musical episode, and it's hilarious.

Well, considering I AM the queen of my double-wide trailer, I'm always in the market for anything that will help me make my house more of a home. Matter of fact, the last three days I have spent rearranging furniture in redecorating, LOL. I SO want to be on Trading Spaces, but I so NEED to be on Desperate Spaces,

Flip that Trailer!

I was surfing a few months ago and came across MTV doing a 'punk'd' episode (I think?). Usually I quickly change the channel but this one looked interesting.. the premise was that this actress or singer (maybe it was Ashlee Simpson?) thought she was on a reality show called 'flip that trailer' or some such and that they were going to redo this redneck guy's trailer.

Except that while she's filming the promo with the redneck guy and the other host, a crane in the background drops a several ton weight 'accidentally' into the trailer, totally destroying it. Her expression was priceless as the redneck guy (and he was way over the top, just like David Spade in Joe Dirt, mullet and everything) starts bawling and crying, "Yoo killt my hooooome!"

Dang I wish I could find a video of that. :)

Oh wait.. here it is.

In the movie they have Tom Hanks and Green Day.

Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): [voiceover in TV ad] Are you tired of the same old Grand Canyon?
Dad in Advert: [bored] Here we are kids. The Grand Canyon.
Girl in Advert: Oh, it's so old and boring! I want a new one, NOW!
Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): [appears from behind bush] Hello. I'm Tom Hanks. The US Government has lost its credibility, so it's borrowing some of mine.
Boy in Advert: Ruffle my hair, Mr. Hanks!
Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): Sure thing, son.
[laughs as he does so. Stars come out of the boy's hair. He then smiles in wonder]
Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): Now, I'm pleased to inform you about the new Grand Canyon.
[shot changes to that of a smouldering crater]
Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): Coming this weekend! It's east of Shelbyville and south of Capital City.
Marge Simpson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001413/): [watching ad] That's where Springfield is!
Tom Hanks (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/): It's nowhere near where anything is or ever was. This is Tom Hanks saying, if you're gonna pick a government to trust, why not this one?
