Chinese movie studios risk losing permission to shoot films if they produce hardcore sex movies.

China's censors, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, also banned erotic movie producers, directors or actors from competing for any film awards or taking part in any such awards, Xinhua reported.

Based on China's population, they don't need sex movies!

China is swarming with prostitutes. In China, every man of means has a wife, a girlfriend, prostitutes, and might even be doing the house maid.

And the govt there worries about dirty movies.

I remember a state did something like this and the rape rate went up. I don't know much about China, but I do expect it to have the same results.

I lived there. I saw. I heard. Every foreign devil like me who lived in an apartment complex knew of girlfriends of married Chinese businessmen who traveled from Hong Kong or Taiwan to Shanghai or Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc, or just across town for the local rich Chinese businessman.

Every city I went to I saw the street girls hanging around outside certain hotels, the bar girls, or just got woken up in the middle of the night in my hotel room by some hooker on the phone in the lobby calling all the rooms looking for business. Once one called me at 6 a.m. when I was shaving for work. The worst was running the gauntlet of hookers and their pimps leaving the train station - especially at night.

Once I answered a knock on the door at a tourist hotel and there was some girl going door to door looking for business. I thought she was the maid so I let her in. My girlfriend made her leave. Most good hotels had floor staff watching the floors to make sure girls weren't running around all night waking up customers.

I had one friend tell me that his married landlord boasted to him that he had a girlfriend in an apartment across town, was doing the maid, and had prostitutes galore. He also told me that once while driving across the country he saw a truck stop where scantily clad girls washed trucks while the drivers, uh, rested, in nearby rooms.

I had a company driver, who we knew to visit cat houses, who told me that I, as a foreign devil, could earn a couple thousand ren min bi a night doing the wives of these rich businessmen. Payback for their cheating husbands, apparently. Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Chinese wives seem to take it for granted, or always suspect, that husbands of any means, and some that don't, have girlfriends if they can afford it, or at least prostitutes.

China has changed. I think that the invention of viagra is an unofficial holiday.

Oh, and there are a lot of Russian girls in the north working the Chinese businessmen, too. Actually, a lot of them are bureaucrats spending the bureau's money in their conventions and stuff, too.

No, but I had a girlfriend who always made sure my batteries were always on recharge every time I left the house alone.

sounds awful, I left China when I was 8, I never realised all those things, Moms never told me of such things (which makes sense as she shielded me from the debauch and disgusting elements of this world)

Actually, after re-reading what I wrote, it seems like a sweeping indictment of the whole country. It shouldn't be. Everything I wrote about happened, and more, but most people I saw did their daily jobs and went home; factories are full of young people of both sexes working years and saving their money before going home and open their own business. I have no idea of what percentages I speak of, just take it as anecdotes.

Oh, here's one more: I heard recently that Hard Rock Cafe in Beijing may be 'de-certified' as an official Hard Rock because the place has too many prostitutes. Dang, and I thought the last time I was there that the two cute girls sitting near us were giving us the flirty eyes either because they thought we were cute - or they were gold diggers looking for sugar daddies.
