FORT WORTH -- A Fort Worth woman wants an apology from the city's mass transit system because of how she was treated Saturday while on her way to church....

Lutz said she was sitting in the back of the bus...when the bus driver interrupted her reading.

"She asked me to stop reading my Bible," ..."I said, 'No, I'm reading the Bible, I'm teaching the kids, I'm going to continue.' And I continued."

Lutz said the next thing she knew, the bus had pulled over and she was being escorted into a supervisor's van...http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=5358343&version=3&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1

This one depends on the facts.

The driver said she was loud and disruptive, that the bus was placarded against loud and disruptive conduct or music, and that he asked her to stop.

She agrees that she didn't stop, but says that she wasn't loud or disruptive.

Most likely, the driver is a bedwetting ACLU-symp who believes that America is on the brink of a theocracy.

No type is more delusional.

I think it is more likely that this woman was intentionally being obnoxious.

It seems to be a rising trend among the more evangelical brands of an in your face type piety. Seems that the tax collector at the wall parable never sank in.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if it had been a different book.

They are the worst. And in Boston, Seattle or San Fran I would be inclined to agree. But in Fort Worth? The driver would likely find himself tarred and feathered.

I am curious whether passenger witness statements were taken, and what they said.

OTOH, how many Bible-readers are obnoxious about it. The number is more than zero, but not that high.

I can't stand the type who constantly harps their religion, even if it is Christianity, especially when they seem to know very little about it. There are more of these out there than I want to admit.

If my memory of 40 or 50 years ago still serves me, a bus isn't as quiet as a modern car. If the driver, up-front, could hear the woman from all the way in the back of the bus, she must have been preaching the fire and brimstone like a street corner preacher. If that's the case, her ass is outta here for disturbing the other passengers.

Unless, the other passenger was an ACLU wacko trying for a separation of 'church and bus', whereas the wacko should have been thrown under the bus.

Just my $1.72 worth.

I agree with you. If this woman was told something she was probably being loud about it. And being told to stop made her even more loud, thinking she had a righteous upper hand in the situation. I saw a small clip of her fox news and she seemed to have an air about her that made me think twice about defending her.

On the other hand....I am in NYC and people read the bible on the bus and train, sing praise music (rather badly at that) on the bus and train, and fake preach at the top of their lungs sending everyone and thier mama to hell on the bus and train. No one stops them. We respect freedom of speech.
