Ok so thanks to AOL.....

http://news.aol.com/elections/primary/state/ia

I have seen the real numbers.

With 2,497 votes for democrats out of 2,926,324

and with 116,114 out of 2,926,324 for Republicans.

I have concluded the folks of Iowa are mostly smart noting that republicans are clearly better than democrats.

I cant draw anymore clearly positive conclusions.......

These numbers are misleading..

If I understand it correctly (from my Dad and Brother), the Republicans get one vote per attendee..

But the Dems did their caucus differently.. you had to build a 'caucus' of 15% of attendees in each precinct to warrant one vote for a given candidate.

So each Dem precinct only got 6 votes max.

That explains the disparity.

I wonder what ever happened to the other 4% of Republican precincts.

Did you go to the link? Because the votes I counted were individual votes... I am not sure of what numbers you are refering to.

Iowa has something like 1800 precincts. The dems said they had a turnout of about 227,000. The Republicans said they had a turnout of about 120,000. So it appears Elgalad has a valid point, But as I said earlier, Iowa is weird.

Yeah, those numbers aren't correct. Obama had more votes than Huckabee, Romney, McCain and Thompson combined if I remember correctly.
