Just had another lock-up while on FC. That's two in less than a week. Can't remember having that happen before. The first one was when I clicked on "post" to start a new thread and the last one was 5 min. ago when I clicked on "edit" on a post I just made. It locks up tight--no mouse activity--no "ctrl-alt-del" either. Have to hit the off button and restart. Anyone else having trouble with this?
Sometimes I'll have a "freeze-up" on a website but my mouse still works and I can go to another running application or restart with ctrl-alt-del.
I'm running 98SE and netscape 7.0 currently.

The first to thing to check is whether you are are cleaning out your IE cache. If you cache is very large, it can very well choke the Windows swap file.
To clean it out under IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/Delete Files.

Oops, stupid me. You are running Netscape.
Anyway, the same principle holds. I am just forgetting offhand the commands to clean the cache in Netscape, since it has been years since I used it.

Generally there should be a folder somewhere on the system (either within the netscape folder or elsewhere) that holds the cache and the temporary internet files (or cookies), I would do a search and find those folders then do a select all and delete on the inside of each.
Simple but effective.
Also running maintenance on your system (Disk Cleanup, Scandisk and Defrag) wouldn't hurt either.

Since this is intermittent, troubleshooting it is gonna be a bitch. You might try disabling javascript and other scripting for a while and see if you notice a difference. It could be that an active script is trying to do something that locks things up. You may also want to update the Windows Scripting Host if an update is available from Microsoft's download site. Also wouldn't hurt to have the latest Java Virtual Machine installed.

That is possible, Rhino. He might be using Java 1.2 or lower.
A lot of sites recently are running into that same problem. Granted, HTML via that platform can be a bitch.
