View Full Version : Warning on stealthy Windows virus
Security experts are warning about a stealthy Windows virus that steals login details for online bank accounts. In the last month, the malicious program has racked up about 5,000 victims - most of whom are in Europe.
Many are falling victim via booby-trapped websites that use vulnerabilities in Microsoft's browser to install the attack code.

I use Opera (and occasionally Firefox) for 99.99% of my browsing. They don't have those holes.

The media, particularly the British press, likes to blow these things out of proportion. I particularly liked the comment, "...from the days before Windows used the Master Boot Record..." When exactly was that?

Windows for DOS? I must have missed that version. But apparently the Brits had it!

Nope. DOS came before Windows, and the MBR has been with us since DOS, which is how I interpreted the article's comment, "from the days before Windows used the Master Boot Record..." Perception reigns.
Actually, DOS 6.22 was quite sophisticated. Windows (http://www.computerhope.com/history/windows.htm) was evolutionary, not revolutionary..
