You can’t help but feel a little sorry for Amanda Beck. She’s a reporter from Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN1337175820080114?feedType=RSS&feedName=domesticNews&rpc=22&sp=true) who was among the first to cover a new study (http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/0000605-200802190-00204v1#FN) conducted by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, which warns about an outbreak of a virulent, drug-resistant, and potentially deadly strain of Staph infection afflicting certain segments of the homosexual community.

Although outbreaks of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, have primarily been confined to hospitals in the past, the study determined that, due to “high risk behaviors” beyond hospital walls — such as “anal sex” — men who have sex with men are now 13 times more likely to contract the infection.

Because this particular strain can be transmitted through “skin-to-skin contact,” researchers fear the outbreak “has the potential for rapid, nationwide dissemination” and will spread to “the general population.” Once it does, they say it will be “unstoppable.”

That's good information in yur post. It makes it perfectly clear that what they are about, in large part, is the sexual corruption and abuse of children. As IC points out, they have an organized practice now to effect just that.

The paper said "USA300 [a type of MRSA] was found mostoften on the buttocks, genitals, or perineum". And the infection rate among gay men is about 0.3%.

If you think a co-worker is gay and you are worried that he's one of the 0.3% it is probably a good idea to avoid touching his "buttocks, genitals, or perineum". If you can't avoid it then washing your hands (or whatvever) should reduce any risk to pretty much zero.

In straight men it the infection rate is about 0.03%, so the same advice applies to all your male co-workers.
