View Full Version : Who Should Conservatives Write in on the Ballot If McCain Wins the GOP Nomination?

Copied straight from one of my underground conservative sites that I go on sometimes.. http://www.rushlimbaughforum.com/choose-your-write-candidate-mccain-wins-the-nomination-t584.html
Oh and some don't know about Paleocon heres a little info..
"Palecan" is a Native American leader who led the final charge against the Viet Cong at the Battle of the Bulge and won the Croix de Guerre for his actions. You conservatives are always so smug. Look it up on the internet. Do you expect me to be your slave and post links to everything. I mean this is settled history and has been peer reviewed too!
He had an Hawaiian brother named "Paleale." He had a beer named after him.
He seems ALRIGHT. Anyway guys who's it going too? I'm thinking daffy duck Limbaugh or Reagan but I think the election people will laugh at us for writing in Daffy Duck and Reagan just a thought though...

My personal choice... Bill O'Reilly.

Bill O' Reilly is hated by too many conservatives. I don't like him really that much I do agree with alot but he seems to arrogant when hes on TV and full of himself.

I dont think he is arrogant. I know he brags that the O'Reilly Factor is and has been number 1 for cable news programs, but he always thanks the veiwers.
He even airs mail from people who dont like him. The man has strong conviction, not arrogance. At least not IMO.

I AM OFFENDED. HARDLY A VOTE FOR WHITE MALES!
Okay, I confess I voted for Walter Williams and would have easily voted for Ms. Malkin or Coulter. Still, I thought a little hair pulling theatrics might amuse.
Besides these three share something I REALLY like (besides Walter's claim that he is incredably good looking) - they take no prisoners. Even Rush is a softie compared to these shock troopers (especially the blonde, I think she is missing a brake, a few loose marbles).
OH, and I really miss Ken Hamblin. He could get liberal listeners boiling mad...he just loved to proke them into sputtering rage. I can't tell you the number of times I fell outa my chair laughing...

That is the best one line 'perfect' assessment I have heard in sometime. I had not thought about it, but you are right. She has taken some really tough positions (like defending the WWII internment camps for Japanese) and could hit as hard as Ann and never seem snarly.
Ya, I may have to change my vote (but I do like Walter's provacative story telling...I never know if he is joking about his running the show around his house and keeping Mrs. Williams in line)

Me too! My parents, my husband and I went to see Mr. Hamblin in Jax, and it was an awesome appearance! What happened with him? All of a sudden they just took him off the air here, and I never did hear why. He was beginning to get very popular around here then poof, he disappeared.
--------------------------------------
I'm going to take two very UNpopular stands (which will probably get me booed and lectured, but so be it). 1. I won't vote for a woman. 2. If it really comes down to it at election time, and if after much prayer (and probably fasting, I'm going to need it) I in good conscience simply cannot cast my vote for the (supposed) "R," I will either write in Fred Thompson or I will cast an empty ballot to let my "None of the Above" choice known.

How about instead of taking it so seriously (considering the poll was made by a 14 year old who cant vote {no offense TR} ) you take it for what it is... an examination on who is potentially (but not plausible because none of them have ran for the GOP nom) a better choice.
Truly this is just for fun. I have finally made up my mind about who I am voting for and probably nothing said here is gonna change my mind, especially this poll.

The way I interpreted this thread is a poke at the crybabies who are throwing a tantrum after Thompson bailed. Besides, what are the chances of P.J. O'Rourke even accepting, let alone getting, the nomination? You gotta admit a team with him and Malkin would be one kick-ass duo.

Why would that be an unpopular stand sis? Everyone has their reasons for voting for or against something! And if you have done your homework to include the praying and fasting then I respect the heck out of your decision. My problem is with those that blindly follow the sheep because it's popular within ones particular circle of peers. :thumb: Give em hell sis!!!
I'm down to McCain and Romney in the Primary and I will also support either during the General Election, even though the first choice isn't very popular here.

About a year ago I finally found out what happened. Apparently he had been on for years, then in a few short years had a very sudden rise in popularity that peaked out at about 100 stations, then as syndication spread for other hosts, he had a slow decline to about 30 stations. One story has it that he was getting very frustrated over the loss of stations and always wanted Rush to let him guest host (or some such "rumor")... anyways I guess the stress of it all got to him. One day he lost it on the air, took his tapes home and told the syndicator to stuff it. They cut a mutual deal to end their relationship and he decided to retire.
So now he's still retired (I think he was in his late 50s at the time he retired). He's a grandfather and spends most of his time with his wife and grandkids, just enjoying life (I think he lives in Colorado). He's told interviewers that he was just tired of being angry all the time and decided that he should spend the rest of his days enjoying his family. By all accounts, he is very happy these days.
Yes, I thought he was great and underappreciated. I saw him a book sale in Oakland many years ago, although I missed his talk. His book was great, and he was a dapper gent with a fedora hat. The outragiousness of having the special line for African-Americans who were PO'd at his comments is almost unbelievable. But that is where he had his most fun getting callers livid.
Well, he earned his retirement. I just wish he was still active in some capacity. Guys with this kind of talent like that are rare enough.

Oddly enough that is precisely the tactic that Mr Limbaugh says he is leaning towards...
RUSH: Well, let me try and explain it to you this way. If one such as myself happens to believe that there's not too much of a substantive difference between Mrs. Clinton and a couple of the Republican potential nominees -- and if I believe that either the Republican or Democrat nominee is going to cause great damage and harm to the country -- I would just as soon it happen on the watch of a Democrat.
...I'm a conservative first and a, quote, unquote, Republican second -- and party unity, at the expense of conservative principles and values to me is not advancing things.

RUSH: I have weighed it all. I didn't say that there are no Republicans that I would vote for. Did you assume I meant that?
CALLER: Yes, I did.
RUSH: Oh, no, no, no. No. Just a couple, maybe one. (sigh) It's not all of them by any stretch of the imagination.Interesting.

Its an interesting set of comments on Rush's part... Oddly enough he reflects my feelings exactly... Romney is the last Pub candidate I can support, and from his comments and hints, I'm thinking Rush is leaning toward Romney himself... He's the only one Rush has anything positive to say about these days...

I think Rush's hints about not voting in the general are coy. When push comes to shove, he'll get behind the nominee in order to deny the Clintons another eight years.
I think he's leaning toward Romney, too, although not crazy about him. He despises McCain, but despises HillBilly more. At least I think and hope he does. Besides, if he doesn't get behind the nominee, he won't have any credibility when he rails against HillBilly for the next eight years should they win again. That would be professional suicide.

Thanks for letting me know that max, I really appreciate it. I concur with your sentiments, most especially since he was a Conservative of color. His voice is greatly missed. I'm glad I had the chance to go see him live, especially since it was one of the last things (political) I was able to enjoy with my Dad before his passing. I think I agreed with about 98% of what Mr. Hamblin said, [whispering] and I actually enjoyed his show more than Rush's! :smirky: Perhaps in a while he'll get back in, but if not, I hope he at least stays politically active -- we really do need people like him.
