View Full Version : Puppy cruelty

Yesterday morning he appeared sitting in front of my door pawing at the glass. He is a young pit bull, possibly just past puppyhood. I don't know why he came to me, or why he sat patiently pawing at the door. When I opened it, he came in, headed straight for the nearest empty cage and slept for five hours. He got up, was walked for his business and is still sleeping.
The poor puppy has been subjected to unbelievable cruelty. He is covered in gold paint. He has been in a fight because his head, face and neck are covered in bite marks. Someone tried to cut off his ears. There is a huge gash on his penis. Today he'll get a bath. I'll try to get off the paint and evaluate his injuries.
I cannot give him to the pound. His wounds would doom him to death within the hour. He doesn't hold a grudge. His tail wags. he is very quick to give lots of kisses. He's no fighter. He gets along with all other dogs.
I hope I find a good home for this poor pup. He will make someone a wonderful, loving, loyal pet.

Kathy,
Bless you for your kind soul! You have my deepest and most sincere respect. I and my family will begin praying that a wonderful new home will open up to give the little fellow the family he so richly deserves. Thank you, from one pure animal lover to another ...
Be Blessed,
Hms

He slept for a full 24 hours. I took him for a walk and he did all his business, gave him a gigantic bowl of food, a huge pot of water and he's back asleep. One of my customers works for the city and said under no circumstances send him to the city shelter. They kill pit bulls immediately and never put them up for adoption. She might know someone who has had pits in the past and might want him.
I pray that he finds a good home where he won't be abused. I cannot keep him for long and it isn't good for him either because I have to keep him caged.

Why can't you keep the little guy?

I can't. I have a poodle. The poor little stray has to stay in a cage ALL the time. I can't let him run around with so many animals here. Pits are not considered trustworthy no matter how good the animal.

Understood, go take him to a humaine society, that doesn't kill animals or see if any friends would take him in thats a sad story you might also wanna call the police and report the dog and they could use him as evidence if they have someone in mind.

I've been contacting everyone I know including rescue centers to find someone to take this poor baby. I have a friend who works at the city who told me the policy here is to not even try to find pits a home. They are just executed immediately. The police, if this dog took one step toward a police officer he would be shot right in front of me. He's a pit bull with OBVIOUS signs of having been in a fight. There are lots of dogs in my shop. This dog has shown no agressiveness toward any of them, not even the CATS. His wounds would mark him a fighting dog and he would have no hope at all.
I had a long conversation with a breed specific pit bull rescue. They cannot take him either but from what I said think he may have been a bait dog. Bait dogs are normally gentle and used for the agressive fighting dogs to kill. I just wormed this baby. I put the pills in some turkey and he took it very gently from my hand.
I hope he finds a home soon.

Well Kathy you are like me. I cannot turn away from their suffering. I have fostered many, many dogs. I have a female who looks more Pit than anything else. She was a "ditch dog", found sleeping in the ditch next to her dead canine friend, on a cold sleety Feb. day. I took her home, fed her and spayed her and hoped to find a home. The only interested caller wanted to know her weight and how many I had (Asian accent, I suspect she would have been eaten). Anyway 4 years later she is still here. Safe around cats, kids, chickens, goats, etc. In fact one of the stray cats here sleeps next to the Pit at night on the porch. I NEVER expected to own a Pit and would not have gone looking, but she has been fine.
You could confine him to his crate when then dogs are unsupervised. That's a helluva better life than what he's had.

Am I a bad person for believing people who do this to animals should fry?
