DENVER (AP) - Democrat John Edwards is exiting the presidential race Wednesday, ending a scrappy underdog bid in which he steered his rivals toward progressive ideals while grappling with family hardship that roused voters' sympathies but never diverted his campaign, The Associated Press has learned.

And now we will find out who cut a deal with Edwards and thet the deal was... VP slot? Cash? Both?

The critical question is WHO Edwards is dealing with because the deal will be for his delegates...

His delegates can either make Obama stand toe to toe with the bitch or they can put the bitch so far out of reach that Obama may never catch up...

If I had to place a bet, my money would be on the Clintons - Obama is too naiive about politics - and about who his opponents are... He doesn't speak the language of back room politics - But the Clintons do - And Edwards does...

No. Not VP.

This came out yesterday. Edwards is demanding the Attorney General slot for throwing his support behind Osamabama.

The UNIONS want Edwards at AG, and Osamabama has bought into it.

You got it right. Speaking as someone who knows Robert Byrd, they will vote for McCain.

Both of them?Check the numbers, DS... Do the math... Right now Edwads is the king-maker and he knows it - So do both of the other two candidates...

If the rumor is true that Edwards is dealing with Obama, it really puts Obama back in the race in a big way... In fact with his charisma, and the fact that the Clintons have pretty much screwed themselves out of the Black vote, this could become the beginning of the end for the Clintons... All it takes is a change in the momentum, and Edwards can make that change happen...

You mean, Don't count out Bill... She is just a handpuppet for Billy - He is the power behind this campaign and most of those supporting her I believe are tacitly winking at an under-the-radar 3rd term for Bill... She is nothing withouth him, and if she wins the Whitehouse she will make no decisions without getting her marching orders from him...

That's the same way I read the Clinton Campaign, Laz. Always have, and always will. It's been a run for a third and fourth term for Monica's sugardaddy from the gitgo.

I don't know if it would be legal or not, but I could foresee BJ as VP instead of First Cheater. Then Hildabeast would have a very short shelf life........

Then Hildabeast would have a very short shelf life........well I doubt it would be be either legal nor would they attempt it... Firstly, naming Bill as VP (even if legal) would be too blatant even for the not-so-subtle Clintons... It would almost certainly drive a herd of undecideds to the Pubs...

And secondly, the risk is unnecessary since Bill will still be the defacto president even as Hilary poses for photo ops... She will be the cardboard-cutout president while the Whitehouse staff and the Dem congress get their marching orders from Bill everyday...

Plus it allows Bill the free to fondle and explore all the young fat interns he wants because the cameras will be foolishly trianed on the display president... Best of both worlds for Bill...

I disagree. Those two are on a team they use eachother as pimps for eachother. Right now I think she was supposed to have been the puppet master but he went off on a tangent against Barack and now she is doing damage control.

They either eachother's best friend or worst enemy depending on the day.

Good. This will help Obama, and the longer he can challenge the Clintons, the uglier they will get. And for obvious reasons, the better it is for us in the general.

They strongly suggested on the news-blurb I heard driving today (one that played during Rush's time) that Edwards is going to endorse Obama. They played Obama's response to Edwards dropping out, and it eerily sounded like he had already made Edwards part of his team. On the other hand, the radio news-head said Hillary also commented, but didn't play a clip or even summarize her remarks. I think Edwards done did himself a deal with the debbil's boy, :smirky:.

My prediction is that HILLARY will benefit the most.

Edwards did not campaign on a moderate image this time around. Obama, while probably the furthest to the left, maintains a mainstream image, at least in the media's perception. Hillary has extremist rhetoric on class warfare.

For example...

In reference to learning of Exxon's $39 profits...

"I want to take those profits and put them into an alternative energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy alternatives that will actually begin to move us toward the direction of independence."

(HINT: She's not going to invest Exxon's money in oil refineries or give anyone the right to drill at ANWR. She's going to throw it at corn ethanol, which oil companies have neglected for good reason: it's NOT profitable. Period.)

Another example:

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Is it just me, or is a Demmunist Fundraiser the most feasible time to cater to die-hard communists?

Larry Sabato and his Politcal Science Department at the U of Va has picked the winners of our elections with spooky accuracy in the last few years... When Sabato speaks, no matter whether I like the message or not, I listen...

Read now what he says about Edwards...

What of John Edwards? It is evident to all that he will not be the Democratic nominee for President. Really, how could the Democrats, the party of diversity, nominate a white male when the other major candidates were a woman, an African-American, and a Hispanic? After South Carolina, the state of his birth, Edwards will have three choices: (1) Stay in through the primaries, collect delegates under the party's proportional rules, and hope that the Clinton/Obama split is so close that his delegates can make Edwards the kingmaker, with a payoff of the post of Attorney General or another vice-presidential nomination; (2) Drop out before or after February 5th, and endorse one of the candidates (surely Obama, given what Edwards has said during the campaign); or (3) Drop out and save his nod for later. Option three is the least likely, since Edwards will quickly become irrelevant. If the second option is chosen, can Edwards actually steer his delegates and voters to Obama? Will Edwards campaign enthusiastically for Obama to enable the transfer? Should Edwards truly prefer Obama, Edwards may conclude that the first option helps both Obama and himself the most. Many of Edwards' white, blue-collar supporters may be more inclined to choose the white female over the black male in a one-on-one match-up, no matter what Edwards says or does for Obama. Splitting the white vote may be Edwards' real favor to Obama. Sabato is calling an Obama/Edwards marriage... Which suprises me - I didn't think Obama was that crafty as to negotiate such a deal... If it happens, it may just make Obama the nominee...

That's kind of what I was wondering... because I tried to find something about Edwards backing another candidate, and there isn't anything on the wires to that effect. (that I could find)
