<!-- START LEAD --> Rudy Giuliani exits stage right. Like Macbeth, he's the victim of his own designs: I know -- I'll win by not campaigning ! And John Edwards exits stage left (where else?), having entertained the audience too well: Would Americans ever elect a president who spent two agonizing minutes primping his hair -- a tragicomedy enshrined in a YouTube video set to the lilting "I Feel Pretty" -- "I feel stunning / And entrancing, / Feel like running and dancing for joy-y-y ... "?

So as Tsunami Tuesday approaches, with voters in 24 states expressing preferences, the roster of would-be presidents thins.

<!-- END LEAD --><!-- START REST --> The Republican nomination now is Sen. John McCain's to lose.MORE HERE (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-0131edit1jan31,0,5046219.story)

McCain wouldn't stand a chance against Obama. Old man versus young man, no contest. Obama would wipe McCain's a$$ clear into the next Milky Way.

Absolutely! Even Hillary would beat McCain. That's why the liberal media are trying to force McCain down our throats.

He's been leading against Hillary here since April of last year among democrats if they ask which they would vote for in the general. He's basically what the old time democrats used to be. He's Robert Byrd but supports the war and has served in the military. He can't lose here.

Isn't that a song?

Imagine: McCain vs Obama
It's easy if you try
A know-nothing and an incompetent
Just makes you wanna cry.

I agree, and it's why the big shots aren't pushing Hillary. Even Teddy knows she will lose to McCain because the GOP has the mud already packed up and ready to sling. All the stuff people have forgot about since Bill left office.

In addition to that, I think the media wants to look fair by endorsing a Republican in order to downplay the conservative's charges that they are liberal and favorable to the Democrats.
