Reagan switched political parties, switched wives, and switched from a union president to a union busting President. Romney has not done any flipping as dramatic as that.

1. In Reagan's words, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. They left me."

2. Jane Wyman was unfaithful to Reagan. OF COURSE he left her.

3. Unions deserve to be busted.

1. In Reagan's words, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. They left me."Probably a valid reason for leaving the Dems. The party of Roosevelt and Truman would probably not welcome many of the modern-day quasi-socialists that pass themselves off as Democrats today.

2. Jane Wyman was unfaithful to Reagan. OF COURSE he left her.She left him, IIRC. Remember the "Jane Wyman was right!" sign that Geraldine Ferraro saw (or at least pretended to see; I never saw it myself, but I heard her say the line) in '84? Wyman thought that Reagan was getting too involved in politics. (Note that he was still a Democrat at the time.)

3. Unions deserve to be busted.PATCO, the air-traffic controllers' union, members had taken an oath not to strike. They walked out anyway. Reagan had no choice. Well, he could have let them break the law with impunity, couldn't he?
