CBS 42 Austin - 2 hours, 29 minutes agoTexas Governor Rick Perry endorsed Sen. John McCain Thursday, saying the new GOP frontrunner is the best candidate to fight the war on terror.

There's the conservative state governor he's been wanting.

A liberal Republican governor endorsing a liberal presidential candidate. No surprise there. :thumbdn:

Liberal? How did he get elected in Texas?

Liberal? How did he get elected in Texas?
Because he wasn't as liberal as his Democrat opponent. In 2006 he was reelected with only about 40% of the vote in a four-way race against a moderate conservative Republican, a liberal Democrat, and a nut named Kinky Friedman.

A bit on Texas politics. Texas, as most southern post-reconstruction states, voted democrat. Even in my early voting years, the late 70's and into the 80's, the Dems ran unopposed on most of the ballot for state and federal offices. It wasn't until the Reagan revolution and after that, the contract for America, that conservatism really started to flourish in Texas and you started to see republicans mount serious challenges on the ballot and win some elections, even enough to win the governor and the state legislature. Now factor in the growing Hispanic vote and we as a state move more to the left. No surprise to me that Gov. Perry endorsed McCain.

What a betrayal of the Texas citizens , who daily deal with the rampant crime of an undefended border.

Folks I believe what we are seeing is a crafty long-term plan on the part of the Left to win the ultimate takeover of America... They lulled us to sleep by installing their people into key positions of power under our label... They have slipped these moles in as Governors and Senators, and now the bill is coming due...

We have been conned like rank amateurs....
