McCain embraces anti-Catholic bigot Hagee
From http://johnseilerblogs.com/?p=551

Ron Paul got into some trouble when some right-wing racists backed him (http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2007/10/ron_paul_supported_by_racist_western_men_/) even though he repudiated them.

But John McCain has received a pass, so far, for not only being endorsed by an anti-Catholic bigot, but for embracing him. His name is Pastor John Hagee.

In The Wanderer, a conservative Catholic newspaper (not online), Christopher Manion reported:McCain’s campaign consultants are as expensive as they are cutthroat. They undoubtedly did the math and decided that there weren’t enough Catholic voters to worry about . Let us pray that there are enough stalwart Catholics there to raise a storm about it now.

Oh, and what does McCain buddy Hagee say about Catholics? As the League noted in its 1997 Annual Report (http://www.catholicleague.org/annualreport.php?year=1997&id=37):

<DIR>[I]San Antonio, TX – The league viewed and protested a video produced and distributed by John Hagee Ministries, which cited certain "historical facts" designed to link the Catholic Church with Hitler’s program of genocide in Germany. In its apparent attempt to drive a wedge between Catholics and Jews, the video, Southern Steps: Jerusalem and Bible Prophecy, ignored statements by various Jewish leaders citing the Catholic Church for its efforts to save Jews from the Nazis during World War II.

</DIR>Other examples of his bigotry and ahistorical rants are here (http://www.catholicleague.org/catalyst.php?year=2007&month=June&read=2264).

If Rudy was a real Catholic, I'm sure he would mind.

Hm. That sorter changes my mind about Hagee. As a rule, I regard the Wanderer as a print version of Michael Savage - and I once was a long-time reader - but there's no disputing the facts as they are laid out by the Catholic League.

Ah, yes, I will base my judgment on what others think.I will read, believe, and adhere to what others believe. I have no mind of my own, so I will give my self to others. I will not think for my self, but will let others do my thinking...

Are you obtuse? The Catholic League quoted Hagee from his own video. Hagee has a lot in common with the Left which has always hated the Church.

This kerfuffle reminds me of the time Jack Kemp was running for president. Tim LaHaye, who was on Kemp's advisory team, made some unjudicious remarks about Catholicism which were publicized. Kemp graciously responded to my letter in which I expressed my dismay as a supporter of his candidacy. Not long afterward, LaHaye was dismissed as an unnecessary distraction.

Let's be honest. I'm never going to persuade you of the veracity of the Catholic Church's teaching, and you're never going to persuade me otherwise.

As for historical veracity and the audacious slur against the saintly Pius XII, here's a link:

Also available are these books:

Righteous Gentiles: How Pius XII And the Catholic Church Saved Half a Million Jews from the Nazis - by Ronald J. Rychlak. "Rychlak exposes the inconsistent charges, false allegations, and manufactured evidence against Pius XII and his predecessor, the German clergy, and the Catholic Church under Nazi occupation. His comprehensive and thoroughly documented account establishes once and for all that the Catholic Church under Pius XII, far from being indifferent to the Jews, was dedicated to saving them from the Nazis at all costs. The fruit of this concern was the rescue of over half a million Jews from the death camps. Rychlak lays to rest the "black legend" of the Church during World War II, showing that Pius XII and those he directed deserve the title "righteous gentiles."

The Myth of Hitler's Pope: Pope Pius XII and His Secret War Against Nazi Germany - byRabbi David G. Dalin

Let's be honest. I'm never going to persuade you of the veracity of the Catholic Church's teaching, and you're never going to persuade me otherwise.I would be convinced immediately if the teachings of the RCC were verifed by sources other than the church. When the church claims that what it teaches is true, and its sole authority is itself, the skepticism is valid.

My objection is not to the large majority of Rome's teachings that are biblically sound. It is the ones that are unbiblical or anti-biblical that raise red flags. It is the teachings based on spurious "traditions", the source of which is unknown. You'll have to accept that the teachings will be questioned by non-Catholics.

That's not "anti-Catholic". It's simple logic.

I notice the thread starter said, McAmnesty embraces Hagee, not Hagee embraces McAmnesty. I certainly hope this is the case. The age old controversy surrounding Hitler's Jew Hatred emerges. From whence did it come?
Paul Harvey once told "the rest of the story" of how Adolph Hitler had dreamed to become a Catholic Priest in his youth. Much has been recorded as to the validity of the "Jew Hatred", "Christ killer", mentality passed down for Generations through this venue. My wife, who's Uncle is an RC priest experienced it It is recorded that Hittlers minions used the disortations of one Apostate Bishop John Chrysostom, to convince the German population against the Jew. Read for yourself the 8 Homilies against the Jew, 387 AD.
