Because they start screeching and squealing about how we're racists and bigots when we do it. Even if not one single word is said about Obama's race, even if using his full legal name is done in the context of praising him, they have a tantrum.

You aren't kidding! I have now seen it a few times on the boob tube where it was a 'Pub strategist or Talk show personality vs. a 'Rat talking head, and the 'Pub used it causing the 'Rat to fly into an almost uncontrollable rage.
