I'm thinking about running for student office to see what would happen. Mostly everyone likes me because of my beliefs and stuff like that. I was the only one that actually went to the current student presidents and told them they aren't doing anything actually good for the 8th grade besides sit on their asses and talk about music.
I also think it's total BS that one of the things the presidents promised us is that they'll listen to the students and they haven't done that.
My friends and others say that I'm probably the best one to run for student office. I know how to sort crap out. I know it's just holding raising money but I have some great ideas for that.
What do you guys think?

If you can do it, go for it.

If everyone at your school is liberal and you only have a couple like 20 at most conservatives in your school, don't even bother.

 In the 8th grade, student elections aren't about issues or who will listen to the voters. It's a popularity contest.

Longhorn, I'm fairly popular. Not because I'm good looking (I'm not, trust me on this) but because I have a fairly great personality and everyone trusts me.

People fairly trust me, they know I'm right wing and political as you could be as a kid. I hope your not going to be elected on issues with things such as the food fights in the cafeteria.

Basically, set your campaign up so you lie at every turn. Do not EVER utter a word of truth. People do not like truth because it very often does not mesh with their rose-tinted version of reality.
Tell them you will fulfill all their wildest dreams (say it subtly), and I guarantee you will take the election by storm.
In the end though, I agree with LP, these "elections" are just school popularity contests. Nothing political about them.

Actually, people like me because I don't get offended at all. I'm a Baptist/Messianic Jew and one time someone called me a Nazi. After telling them I'm a Jew, they felt super bad. I wasn't offended at all. He didn't know I was a Jew and he was joking with me.
Everyone also knows I don't give a damn about what people think of me and they respect that a lot.

Lie shamelessly. Flip flop on the issues. Make extravagant promises...."An iPod in Everyone's Backpack"...Bribe the ballot counters with drugs and sex. You'll be elected for sure.
Ain't America GREAT !!! :roar::roar:

If you add kookieness to that minus lie at every turn and just put lie sometimes, and minus the don't ever utter a word of truth and you add crazy as hell supporters you get ron paul and his campaign OMG! I JUST DID POLITICAL MATH!
Oh and if you do the sex part plus the iPods, and you somewhat follow through, you'll be everyones best friend in school just a tip there.

Summed up rather nicely I'd say. TR, I say go for it. Worst thing that would happen is you lose and really, you're no less the good guy you are for it. If I could vote for you, I would. Best of luck if you do.

FYI, I will have supporters just as loyal as Fred Thompson's and Ron Paul's supporters. I'm good like that.

Omg, TR in 08? :thumb:
I don't know why, but the mention of this makes a job I once had pop into mind. The boss wanted one guy to go around and collect money from each of us, use it to buy snacks, and then we'd each pay for whatever we ate from it to keep it restocked. (There's a word for this I can't remember right now.) Some of them got all bent out of shape when I wouldn't contribute. No matter how hard I tried to explain it to them, I couldn't make them understand, I wasn't going to double-buy snacks I'd already paid for when I gave the initial contribution. Dude just kept asking me "why not?" If I give you this 20 dollars, dude, you owe me 20 dollars worth of stuff. I'm not going to buy it, again, because I've already paid for it.
Why is that so hard to understand? Dang snack socialism. :smirky:

Me sometimes thinks it's not so different for grown ups unfortunately.
