I was having SERIOUS problems surfing the Internet the past few days with really slow web page loading or no web page loading at all. :flame:
Fortunately, someone online told me about OpenDNS, a free, seamless way to access web pages faster. Well, I ditched my old EarthLink DNS server address and switched over to OpenDNS server address, and WOW!!, not only did it solve my problem but web surfing is actually faster now. I'm going to hug the people behind OpenDNS right now. :bisou:

I don't know. It smells like some anal thing like AOL. It just smells like it, so don't ask for evidence.

Somethingy's fishy about the post. Can someone confirm its him... no offense but it just seems a bit odd.

Why wouldn't it be him?

When ever I see posts like this on other forums, it turns out that someone got the users password, thats the only reason I'm concerned. But really other than that, it's probably legit..

I'm not saying it isn't possible, but you don't usually see text formatting and smilies in such posts. Plus, Ray is a major geek, and a post like this is right up his alley.

Ohh ok, my apoligies there. I didn't know that about him.

Oh, it's legitimate. I spent nearly ninety minutes with EarthLink Technical Support over two days on why Firefox 2.0.x was switching between web pages slower than molasses in winter. They tried everything (e.g., cleaning out a lot of temporary files and resetting the ADSL modem) and none of it helped. :flame:
Fortunately, someone on another forum noted my issue and mentioned OpenDNS. So I went to OpenDNS' website and following its instructions to change my DNS server addresses from my EarthLink default to the OpenDNS addresses. VOILA!, problem solved--in fact, I actually browse web pages faster because unlike DNS servers operated by Internet Service Providers (ISP's), OpenDNS servers cache server address information and have multiple redundant operation for maximum uptime. :)

I am not too big on the function of networks. From what I understand the DNS is what you actually use to get on the web and the ISP is just how you get access to it. If the is correct, does OpenDNS allow service from any ISP?

You know what, Ray...I'm on broadband (cable modem). Just set up with OpenDNS and *I* notice a BIG difference in how quickly pages are loading here at FC!
THANK YOU for the heads up!! :thumb: :thumb:
