He was a handsome devil. I enjoyed his movies too.

Very cool. Very cool indeed. The Army should go back to those uniforms, too.

Remember Neville Brand that used to be in the tv series Laredo, and did a few war movies? He won a lot of medals also. Almost as many as Audie.

Remember Neville Brand that used to be in the tv series Laredo, and
did a few war movies? He won a lot of medals also. Almost as many
as Audie.

According to the IMDB.com site (great reference site about movies), Neville Brand was the fourth most decorated GI from WWII. Here's the bio info from that web site:

Biography for
Neville Brand

Neville Brand joined the US Army in
1939 meaning to make a career in the
military. He emerged from the war
the fourth-most decorated GI of the
war. It was while he was in the Army
that Brand made his acting debut, in
Army training films, and this
experience apparently changed the
direction of his life. Once a civilian
again, he used his GI Bill education
assistance to study drama with the
American Theater Wing, then
appeared in several Broadway plays.
His first movie was 1950's "D.O.A".
Among his earliest films was the
Oscar-winning "Stalag 17". His heavy
features and gravelly voice made
Brand a natural tough guy: "With this
kisser, I knew early in the game I
wasn't going to make the world forget
Clark Gable", he once told a reporter.
He played Al Capone" in "The George
Raft Story", "The Scarface Mob", and
TV's "The Untouchables". Among his
other memorable roles are the
sympathetic guard in "The Birdman of
Alcatraz" and the representative of
rioting convicts in "Riot in Cell Block
11". Perhaps his best-loved role was
that of the soft-hearted, loud-mouthed,
none-too-bright-but-very- effective
Texas Ranger Reese Bennett of
"Backtrack!", "Three Guns for
Texas", and TV's "Laredo".

A hero of heroes. Audie showed no fear.....He served his country in a time of war. He fought to defend America ! ! I have never heard any commentary as to why Audie did what he did. All aside......he was an individual who fought with unrelentless determination. There have been many soldiers who fought with the heart and determination of an Audie Murphy. Audie came home, the others did not. God Bless America !!!
