Twenty-four cities around the world will fall into shadow next month as homes and businesses turn off the lights to raise awareness about global warming, organisers said Tuesday.

The "Earth Hour" initiative started in Australia's biggest city Sydney last year when an estimated 2.2 million people flicked the switch -- leaving the Sydney Opera House bathed in moonlight and the Harbour Bridge blacked out.

Organiser Andy Ridley said Sydney's 60-minutes of darkness generated huge interest around the world and 23 other cities from the Asia Pacific, North America, Europe and the Middle East had now signed up to be part of the 2008 event.24 world cities in 'Earth Hour' black-out: organisers (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080219131323.fqrwbi7j&show_article=1)

The appalling thought is that the farking morons really believe that crap.

"The problem is massive but we do make a difference when we all take action," he said. The essence of liberalism: meaningless, feel-good imagery that doesn't achieve a damned thing. Mankind is doomed to a slow death by rampant, incorrigible stupidity.

It'll be a tremendous opportunity for the gangbangers and other criminals.

Oh, it'll "raise awareness" alright...

Ever get tired of that expression? Seems like lately it's always attached to some leftist agenda.

It will raise awareness of just how gullible -- nay, how stupid -- humanity can be.

Symbolism over substance - The Liberal way of life... Why don't they just get the UN to "pass a resolution" for all the good it will do...

Let us mark the hour and add nine months to the day, and marvel at the sudden increase in birthrates in those cities on that nine-month anniversary... I suspect that any positive effect on global warming resulting from turning off the lights for an hour will be more than neutralized by the resultant increase in carbon dioxide from all the heavy breathing associated with all the carnal drunken monkey sex that will be going on in the dark... :D

Prez gots the right idea: North Korea is setting an example for the whole world to follow. Be kind to Gaia: Don't use electricity. Leave that to the smart people who know better than you. Don't use running water. Only use stagnant water with skeeter eggs visible on top amid the frog turds. Don't eat. Not animals, not veggies, nothing. When you breathe, don't exhale.
