I have wanted to get a concealed carry permit for a long time now. Not that I feel the need to do it all the time, but I would like to be able to if I want to. Anyone out there taken the class, what are your thoughts on this? Everytime there is another public massacre by some mental case I start thinking again how great it would have been if someone nearby had been armed...

Warlady had a cc permit. Dunno if she updated it when it came due.

I think it's just smart. I'd have a cc permit were I not living in Arizona, where you can openly carry.

I've had one for ten years. Never leave home without it. Its a good class and you'll learn a few things.

I turn 21 in March and would love to start the process as soon as I can.

My wife and I have taken the class and are qualified for CC....but choose not to....1) because it's pretty much open carry here, and 2) we can't see giving the authorities a piece of paper telling them we do have firearms.

My wife and I are licensed to carry in occupied territory of MA and like "Incident command" we are always armed. I have never had cause to use a weapon but you never know when a situation arises where you need one.

California has a miserable CCW issuance rate. My county has 421 permits issued out of a total 250,000 people. Do the math... and we have one of the highest issuance rates in the state!

We even have a conservative sheriff and we have piss poor issuance. In the end, most of those 421 are ex-LEOs. The rule (at least for my county) is that you have to jump through all the hoops, and then at the end give a written essay on why you deserve a CCW, and you must give "good cause". Apparently "traveling alone at night with large amounts of money" doesn't cut it. Pretty much any and all public requests are denied for not giving "good cause".

I turn 14 in march, even though I think my birthdate is messed up on here, I can't wait for my 21 first b-day I think thats when I can take the CCW class here in Florida...

No CCW required here in Vermont.

Indiana doesn't require any sort of class, just a back ground investigation; and you can now buy a lifetime permit. I took some classes because I wanted to; they weren't mandatory. I'm due for a refresher, but there's nothing currently available in this area.
